My eldest son just called - he is currently a teammate of Stephen Strasburg in the Arizona Fall League.

Stephen pitched today - and D told me that he was lighting up the radar guns - through 3 innings - at 100 MPH. LOL

More incredibly - D said it looked effortless.

I dont think there are many people who can do that. Just amazing stuff.
You spend a good piece of your life gripping a baseball, and in the end it turns out that it was the other way around all the time. ~Jim Bouton, Ball Four, 1970

That is amazing, I agree.

Whether his arm holds up or not, he's made enough money to make his life comfortable for the rest of it.

There are a few pitchers who have hit 100 and sustained no major problems yet(ex. Justin Verlander) and those that hit only 90 and have.

iitg,
Hope that your son is enjoying his fall experience in Arizona.

IITG...Would completely concur...Watched him a bunch in the MWC the last few years...

Velocity...yep, never seen such easy velocity, gotta be easier on the arm.

44: "Jeeze son looked like Strasburg was letting up a little today, what was he throwing...92? 93?

44jr: "Dad, we had him on the gun at 99 consistently"

44: "oh my God, that's way too easy"

Stuff...

One game he had 14 K's in 7 innings and never threw a fastball in the strike zone...didn't have to...the other stuff was so good that he only threw the 99 FB out as a chase pitch, out of the zone when he got up in the count.

Obviously no guarantees about his future...but he is the real deal...a treat to watch.

Cool 44

TPM - thanks - he was late call up - arrived there about a week and a half ago. A player on the team broke his wrist - so D got the call.
He thought he was going to get to relax a bit - had about 6 weeks home taking it easy - and then boom - phone call and gone the next day.

He is really enjoying it - but he wishes he was a bit more prepared for it as well.

20dad - I hope you get to see him - and then again I hope you dont - LOL - Its anyone guess at this point whether he will start off in NH or Las Vegas.

Regards
