Buhach Colony Merced/Atwater Central Valley. here's why:

Mooneyham- LHP - 90-93 fb - breaking ball can be very good at times, erratic with strike zone, very intelligent (Stanford commit) great athlete, inconsistent mechanics, huge upside; possible 1-2 rd draft pick.

Floro- RHP - 87-90 fb- lots of movement- deceptive motion, hides ball well, good breaking pitch- ave change up- loves to compete- potential draft pick-will be heavily recruited

Koehler- RHP - 88-91 fb - breaking pitch is getting more consistent, good change-command has improved dramatically from last year- (Fullerton commit)

Enough? Oh wait; they have a D1 Catcher to handle this awesome staff and a D1 SS for a little D!

Bring on the Catholic/Private schools....on paper this is as good as any H.S. in CA....now let's see how they execute on the field.
Another Northern California team to watch is Aptos which has an amazing (for a small public high school) collection of 5 seniors with D1 commitments:

Kevin Eichhorn - RHP/SS - Ranked top 200 PG Crosschecker - 91-92, excellent curveball, quality defensive SS with good footwork and hands - very solid hitter. - Santa Clara

Bobby Crocker - OF - Ranked top 200 PG Crosschecker - Running back body, very fast, quick first step, strong arm, hits well to all fields - Cal Poly

Beau Fraiser - C - Solid catching skills, soft hands, strong arm - Univ. of Portland

Kyle Anderson - LHP - 83-85, big breaking curveball that he can throw for strikes - Cal Poly

Andrew Biancardi - 3B - Short compact swing, good power to all fields, strong arm. - Santa Clara

I know that Aptos is legit, as we played against these guys last summer. They're good! Haven't seen Buhach, so will reserve judgement on them until I see them, if they get very far in the playoffs this year.

Remember that having the best team doesn't always determine who'll win it all. Winning when it counts is very much a learned ability, I think. Until you've done it successfully under pressure, it's a lot tougher to do. I'm not aware that Buhach has ever been in that position yet. A lot of people are ready to write off Elk Grove before the season has even begun, but not me. If I were a betting man (I'm not) I'd confidently put my money with those who've "been there, done that".
