Not sure how they line up for the 2nd round as I still haven't been able to find the bracket, but here are what I'm fairly certain are the 1st round match ups:

N4 Wakefield @ P1 Lake Braddock
N3 W&L @ P2 West Springfield
P3 South County @ N2 Stuart
P4 West Potomac @ N1 Yorktown

L4 Langley @ C1 Robinson
L3 Marshall @ C2 Westfield
C3 Centreville @ L2 McLean
C4 Oakton @ L1 Stone Bridge
That first bracket could be interesting especially if McLean gets by Centreville.

LB vs Mclean with probably both Church and Rogers available against Sborz.

Second bracket toss up. Yorktown has a good pitcher as does Marshall. Westfield's ace last two games 3 and 2 innings. Saw West Potomac explode over Woodson in districts. My best guess Marshall vs West Potomac

Robinson is where I thought they might be although not with out problems. Bailey (perhaps still hurt)walked the first three batters last night which allowed the 7 inning win for Spalding. Baker has not been reliable and thus not many innings. Mikush threw a real good game Friday against Centreville. How about Stuart making the regions I think for just a game.

The last bracket Stonebridge and the others. Stonebridge gets past Oakton they should have an easier time in it's next game.

My odds of making in to Monday favorite to least:

LB
Robinson
Marshall
South County
Stonebridge
West Springfield
West Potomac
Mclean
Centreville
Yorktown
Oakton
Washington Lee
Stuart
Westfield
Langley
Wakefield

These things are always fun at this point, so I will add some off the top thoughts...

McLean will likely throw Sborz on Friday night against C'Ville as Hunter threw complete game last night vs Stone Bridge. Bach/Sborz showdown is the region game of the 1st round, IMO.

Marshall is interesting, especially when MacKeith is pitching. Maybe ranked a little too high as there is a slight fall off when he isn't throwing.

Watch out for Langley...they were playing some of the best baseball in the Liberty District at the end of the year. 2 or 3 arms and a tough bunch at the plate (do not K much) keep them in every game.

Robinson does have its work cut out for them. They start with probably the toughest district (Liberty) in Regional play and one of the hottest teams in Langley.

They typically play low scoring 2-1, 1-0, 3-1 type games and have never scored over 6 runs in a conference game this year.

They have been playing four sophomores and one freshman. When Baker pitches, they move another sophomore in to play 2nd base, now having five sophomores and one freshman in the lineup. Only two seniors typically bat.

Bailey pulled a hamstring a few weeks ago and has not been 100% since the injury, apparently not being able to push off on the injured leg.
All true. If WP pitchers hadn't forgotten how to throw strikes, however, it's questionable whether Yorktown's hitting would have been enough to win.

Obviously you were not at the game....2 men and 3 men on several times and no runs for WP.... 3 and 4 batters were 1 for 7. .....seriously. The patience I was talking about was the Yorktown coaches realized the tight zone from blue. 1 and 2 batters were 5 for 6 with a walk for WP.......and only 1 run scored for each of them....

2 clutch hits by WP changes the score and WP wins......a HBP and walk puts a runner on 1b.....a hit by WP at the right time means 5 runs....do the math.

I was at the game and agreed with your points, Kedron. I was merely adding that walks and hit batters by West Potomac pitchers played a big role in a number of Yorktown's runs.
Congrats to Langley. Good game. Two really good pitchers. Mikush had 11 Ks and Byrne likely hit double figures as well and only gave up 2 or 3 hits. Came down to a fifth inning bases loaded double by Cantwell on a hanging curve. Plated all three runs.

On the year, Robinson won 11 games on the road and only 2 at home. Yes, two. Hard to figure that one out.

Langley is clearly a solid team. Not all four seeds are created equal for sure. Tough draw for Robinson. Still a good season for the Rams and good luck to Langley. This observer gives the Liberty district the nod as toughest district.
Robinson was a **** pick by some, but they never proved to me that they could string hits together and put crooked numbers on the board. This leaves almost no room for error on a pitching staff.

I expect to see them back next year as they are young. I think upon reflection, Coach James would have to consider year 1 a successful one.
No "I". It rhymes with Rexy. As far as Sborz pitching, therein lies the problem for McLean as they now face the overall #1 seed WITHOUT Sborz, whereas LB has Church and Rogers both available. I understand as a coach you would never forgive yourself for losing with your ace on the bench because you got caught looking ahead. However, the advantage in this game now tilts heavily to LB, not to mention the revenge factor having lost to McLean earlier on. It will take a Herculean effort on McLean's part. I can't see it happening.

How about I take LB, and you take Robinson plus one other team of your choosing. Gentleman's bet?

You win the gentleman's bet as Madison never made it and Robinson will not see Monday.

I pulled a Schultz.."I know nothing" !

That's clever, Bxbomber! Even funnier because I just got home from Germany so I missed all these scores until now. Truth is, in single-elimination format, almost anyone can get hot or have a couple great games and win it all, so it's anybody's tournament at this point.

I will say that I am much, much more surprised that Madison didn't make the tournament, than Robinson being knocked out. Although few people would have expected Robinson to lose in the first round, I didn't see them as being nearly as strong throughout year as some people have been posting. Apparently they've been playing youngsters, though, so we'll see how they do over the next couple of years.
