McLean defeated South Lakes 10-0 in 5 innings. SL held tough into the 4th trailing only 2-0. But MHS exploded in the bottom of the inning for an 8 run onslaught led by a triple from Riley Beiro and doubles by Denis Buckley and Ethan Gaba.

Buckley pitched 4 innings without yielding a hit and Jake Pierce threw a 1, 2, 3 inning in the 5th to shut it down for the Highlanders. Next up for McLean is the Madison Warhawks on Thursday night.
West Springfield 8
Woodson 2

Very good game. Scoreless into the 5th with some missed opportunities on both sides. Wahl and McGillicuddy both threw well. Woodson scored first on two errors, a stolen base and wild pitch in the 5th. Wahl 2-run single in the 6th, Woodson ties it in the 6th. WS scores 6 in the 7th. Morgan pitches a scoreless 7th.

Langley fell to Fairfax, 17-3 last night. Yes, you read that right.

Oh we need to hear the details on this one...FFX hasn't scored 17 runs their last 10 games...just sayin.

Actually, Fairfax usually does score a few runs/game - but gives up far more.
As for this game, a Fairfax parent told me that the score was 4-3 Fairfax after 4, and then Langly pitching went inexplicably sour w/multiple BB and HBPs. Purely anecdotal, but supposedly 1/2 inning lasted about 45+ minutes.

It happens - the Nats have a winning record against the Yankees...

But the Expos don't. ;-)

I'd love some of the details on the Fairfax / Langley game too!

From Gameday Magazine:

Reilly Beiro And The McLean Highlanders Hit 4 Home Runs To Take A 12-4 Over Madison Before Weather Suspended The Game...

Two from Beiro, one from Russo and one from Buckley.

Game to be completed Monday evening.

McLean closes the deal and this game ends as a 12-4 win for McLean. Sean Fitgerald pitches 3 more for the win and Jake Pierce throws a nice 9th inning to end the game.
McLean defeats Fairfax 4-1 in 9 innings. A pitching duel between Josh Sborz of MHS and Joe Vanderplas of FHS took place on a cold and rainy night in Fairfax. Sborz pitched 6 strong innings for McLean giving up no earned runs as the Highlanders defense was sloppy behind him. Vanderplas was exceptional as he went 8 great innings for the Rebels. He allowed merely a solo home run to Denis Buckley in the 4th.

McLean broke it open in the 9th keyed by a triple off the bat of Ethan Gaba. Buckley pitched the last 3 innings for McLean allowing no runs to pick up his 3rd win of the season. McLean is now 5-0 in the Liberty District and plays cross-town rival Langley on the road this Friday.
Stone Bridge beat Langley last night 2-1 at Stone Bridge. Light rain for about the first half of the game. JR Steve Putnick went 6 for SB with 9 Ks. JR Sid Harvey got the save with 2Ks in the 7th. Rob Hood got 9Ks for Langley as well. SB defense came up big last night in the 4th gunning out a runner at home where he was trying to score from 2B with 1 out and the score 2-1. SB got their runs in the bottom of the 1st via a lead off bunt single and HBP. They did a double steal and both scored on a single with 2 outs.

SB plays @ Marshall on Friday.

Westfield and Centerville was postponed until tonight. That should be a great game to watch...

They do every single year. That's not even that many runs compared to some of their outputs against the bottom half of the Patriot year in and year out.

I am probably going to get sh@t for saying this, but WP and Annandale is not the same as scoring 16 runs on WS or WTW. They won by one run against SoCo. Celebrations might be a bit premature.

I didn't see anything like celebrating in those posts. I believe they simply stated LB was scoring runs. Did that bother you for some reason?
With or with out the WP or Annandale game 11 Runs per game including pretty good FLA teams, one with 6 D1 signees.

So I knew the LB groupies would jump. Yes, 11 runs is excellent, but to be clear - SoCo scored 11 runs agains West Po also. Woodson beat Annandale by 8, Oakton by 11. My point is there are a couple of teams in the Patriot district that are "gimmes", when you can score 11+ on the top teams, then boasting about 11 runs seems appropriate.

LB is solid and one the top contenders, but I think WTW, WS and SoCo is going to give them a better chance to prove how good they are.

LB certainly has some talent - I had no idea they had 6 D1 signees - I only knew of Lindermuth. Who are the other 5?

First, no one from LB was boasting about anything. Secondly, if you read the message about six D1 signees, it was the team LB got beat by 13-12 in Florida.
