South County 15, West Springfield 14

Very briefly; starting pitchers were Beal for SC and Williamson for WS.

SC jumps out with 6 in the 1st on a grand-slam by Perez and a 2-run HR by Egbert.

WS responds in top 2 with an 8-spot highlighted by a 3-run double by Snook and 2-run HR by Pyon.

Fast forward to bottom 6 with WS leading 12-7. SC comes up with 6. 2-run doubles each for Perez and Frazier, followed by Fairbanks' 2-run HR which gives SC its first lead of the night.

With 2 out in the top of the 7th, Wooddell works a walk, which is followed by an opposite field HR from Snook to put WS up 14-13.

WS get the first two men out in the bottom of the 7th. Then 2 walks, an error which scores the tying run and an intentional walk to load the bases, leads to a wild pitch which makes the final SC 15, WS 14. Perez earns the victory in relief.

An incredible game with some incredible individual performances...

Congrats to Ben...

Along those same lines, I heard A J Powell of Broad Run has 3 no hitters this season...his last a perfect game...Congrats to both of the young men...
McLean 6
Langley 0

Solo HRs by Beatty and Ristig among 12 McLean hits coming from through out the lineup. McLean left too many runners on base but give Langleys pitchers credit for battling and never letting the game get away.

Sborz struck out 14 for McLean. Also give Langley credit for getting 6 hits, many of them on the screws, and for hanging tough even on many of their eventual strikeouts.
As covered by the Post, Hayfield 9 W-L 4,

That leaves Hayfield, W-L, and Yorktown tied for first at 12-2 at the end of the national's regular season. Each team split with the others, winning on the others' home fields. Looks like a coin flip will decide the seeds for the tournament. Unless the national has changed this year (I don't think they have), their tourney differs from the others by following a straight quarterfinal format with no byes.
