Just a little off season bragging. My son took up swimming as an off season sport to stay in shape for baseball. Last weekend, as a college freshman, he took 2nd place in the 100 breast stroke at the Metropolitan College Swim Championships at Rutgers. His time was 57.43 seconds.

When he came up to us in the stands I said to him "Not bad for your second sport". The coaches from another team were sitting right in front of us. I thought that their heads would swivel off when they heard that. I am not sure they remember that my son had contacted them early on in the recruiting process. But their school's baseball and swim coaches didn't want to share an athlete. So he didn't go to that school. Their loss.

My next words to my son were "Now go do the same thing on the baseball field". Go NJIT!

Tom...having a daughter who was a collegiate swimmer I can honestly say.....WOW.....when it comes to that breast stroke time!!!!! That is an amazing time ANY way you look at it....many full time swimmers can only dream to achieve that, let alone a swimmer who doesn't train year round due to another sport! A huge congrats! Now...on to baseball season! Smile
