I started the thread below as FAMILY CENTRAL - Holiday Edition (replacing our spring, summer and fall editions of GAME CENTRAL). But then I was the first to post, with the invitation below for prospective future wives for my younger son. Smile Since no one else has added their general family reports yet, I thought I would move this (potentially embarrassing to my son) post from the main forum to Ladies Only.

My report: My husband and I got to watch our younger son's first college concert today. He is a freshman classical guitar major at the University of Minnesota. His freshman ensemble sounded quite good, but it was also inspiring to hear the upperclassmen who are, of course, better!

I had hoped son #2 might choose a career with more obvious earning potential since he was an A student, but he has his heart set on becoming a professional musician. So now I am on the lookout for a nice future wife for him, who is majoring in something employable. Parents of freshman young ladies who fit the description, please contact me to begin plotting a match. He is 6'3" tall and though he is not a baseball player, he has the proper genes for a baseball playing grandson! (photo below) Oh boy, it's a good thing he doesn't read this site - he might not like this very much!

LOL Julie, we've been doing some matchmaking strategies in the OH/KY/PA forum as well!

He's a very nice looking young man and I congratulate him on knowing what he wants to pursue in the future. That is a huge accomplishment for a young person! Smile

I have my eye on one of Justbaseball's son's for my daughter. He's a red head and I need to pick carefully if I'm going to get a grandchild with red hair one day.... and he cooks! Of course, I haven't inquired if he's left handed. Gotta pick carefully in these situations, ya know! Big Grin

Maybe we should all take time around the Christmas tree to explain to our teenagers that they need not look for love. Us moms will take care of that through our HSBBW registry! Think they would consider that a good gift? I think it would be marvelous!!! Big Grin

I mean, everyone knows, momma knows best!! Right?!?!? Wink

Heehee!

CD, no, he usually dresses just a bit more casually!

LadyNMom, you had to get the boy to agree to a contract when they were still too young to understand. It's probably too late for you now. My oldest has picked a real sweetheart, I couldn't have done better myself. (Dating 3 years, seems like it could turn permanent!)

Orlando, ehh, I'm actually hoping both of my boys will "marry up"! Wink

SSMom, funny 'cuz I just came down from making up his bed for a visitor, had to pick up socks and towels from floor, and a few candy wrappers - I don't even want to look under the bed!

Julie
I like this arranged dating idea
MN-Mom-I'll take him for my daughter! They'd be a great couple! She's a 5'9" dancer with beautiful, thick dark blond hair-eyes that match her hair color! Of course she's only a high school sophomore, but if they wait a few years to start dating the age difference won't matter! She's picky because she's taller than most of the boys her age right now!

lafmom, if things don't work out with justbaseball's son-I've got a lefty with dark strawberry blond hair-it was red when he was younger but it's changed some as he's gotten older!

This may be my last post because they're going to kill me if my son finds this post! He doesn't usually go into the ladies forum but he has been known to before!
ORMom,

Your daughter sounds beautiful, though I don't know if I should encourage my son to "rob the cradle" like that! We might have to introduce them when she is a freshman in college and he is beginning his Master's degree. Unless he finds a girl who is starting a JOB at that time, and wants to help him pay for graduate school!

Julie

P.S. Can you imagine how embarrassed my son will be if he ever finds out about this thread?

Shhhhh,...pssst,....we promise not to say a word!!! Wink

But he may get a little suspicious when we start sending you pictures of our daughters & neices & then have you secretly stick them in his guitar case with their phone numbers and hobbies listed on the back! tee- hee

Very good looking son Julie, I have a daughter but a little to old for him, 24,but she doesn't seem to like my selection of dates. Anyone I like, she puts the skids on so I quit saying anything about the ones I like. She is also only 5'5". My son (baseball pitcher) thought he would like to be a musician. I think he better stick with baseball though. My ears hurt when he's playing the guitar. He thinks he is good though.

Great looking son, beautiful smile.

Luv-BB
I always tell by boys “I better not ever get a call from the principal; I will show up at school right before the morning bell rings in my robe, flip flops, and bed hair and you know I am not bluffing”. Sad thing is, they know I would do it. I have not received a call from the Principal’s office yet.
Great pic, Julie!

Glad to hear Tony is having a good year. I know music programs are very demanding.

Mine is signed up to take guitar and voice next semester just to refine what he's doing. I asked if they had any kind of recital so I could come and gush but he didn't know yet (and may forget to tell me when the time comes!!) Roll Eyes

Match-making central...sounds like a plan to me!
Although mine is still playing the field in more ways than one!
My son is sick with the flu....and when I talked to him last night I told him if I were closer I'd be there with some hot chicken soup for him.....he told me not to worry....his girlfriend (she goes to college about 40 miles from his campus) already brought him hot chicken soup.....

Ladies, it's official, I've been replaced... cry, and be careful what you wish for, or "arrange"....

I'm so busted!!! Apparently my son ventured into the Ladies Forum this morning Confused As we were eating lunch today, he proceeds to tell my daughter that I've been trying to set them up on hsbbweb! She just laughed as my son proceeded to tell me that that's just plain wierd FrownHe doesn't get that I'm just looking out for their best interests!!!
ORmom, that is so funny that you got busted. I text my son the other day to inform him there was a cute girl at the coffee shop that I go to daily. I really expected the Oh Mom, but he actually asked if I new who she was. I didn't. He came home Thursday night and was leaving to go back to school for rehab so we stopped at the coffee shop while waiting for his ride. I guess us moms do have a good taste for cute girls. I expect him to get addicted to coffee over the next three days when he comes back. I hope someday you will get out of the doghouse.
Update:

I think you can call off the search for a match for my younger son, pictured on page 1. I found out today that he is dating a young lady who sounds very nice. Actually, I heard her voice in the background when we were on the phone, so I can literally say she sounds very nice! Smile

Now I wonder who would be most embarrassed if the young lady somehow stumbled across this thread!?!
Roll Eyes
Ohhhh MN-Mom,....shucks,..I had hoped he'd wait for my neices to get just a little bit older! ha!

Ok,..so give us the mom scoop.

She sounds nice. ( definate good start)

Did she sound intelligent? ( always a plus!)

Did she sound cute? ( gotta have good lookin' grand children )

Did you get to actually talk to her,..or were hello's said from the background? ( its ok,..perhaps she doesnt want to seem overbearing. I like a girl who knows da momma is, and always will be, #1!! hee-hee! )

Does she plan to make a quick stop by your house for Spring break with the son?????

Most important question of all: does she treat him well,..and does he seem happy???

Sooo many questions and not enough time to type.
( must start un-corkin' the vino,...its been a looong rough day at work! )
How about ya just come over for a glass of wine tonight, bring the HSBBW gals, & we can all sit around the sofas & get the whole scoop in person?

I sure hope he's found a sweet sweet special sweet girl! ( kinda exciting huh?!!! )

( Oh lord,..I hope she never see's this thread! eeek! ) Maybe we should start talkin' in Mom-code from now on!,..or pig latin'.
A-ok-nay???
