Does anyone have the new Windows Vista?

My old pc died and right now down here the only thing selling is the new version of windows. Last night I found out that bellsouth (DSL)is having trouble supporting it for new installation. I am switching to comcast hispeed. I bought a new pc with vista, now wondering if I should have waited, should I just buy a new hard drive and install windows xp?

I'm in need of a few new business PCs and am inclined to go with XP to assure software and hardware compatibility. Have seen this topic discussed on high level tech sites and few people there are eager to switch to Vista, especially until the inevitable early bugs are worked out.

If the problem with your old machine is simply a HD, by all means replace it and reinstall XP, at least as a backup machine. I blew a CD Rom drive last week. It cost me $30 to buy a new one and 20 minutes to switch the units. (plug and play)

Common Question: Who Needs Vista?
Answer: Microsoft and Dell LOL

I was looking at CDW's website a few days ago and they still have plenty of new XP machines, by the way. I'm not sure whether Dell has many of them.

Bullwinkle is a little slow on upgrading my computer. I figure if it ain’t broke why fix it?

My system is the reliable UNIVAC 90. While the column cards are a little bulky, I recycle the cards as kilning to start my wood stove and also to mop up water that has melted from the ice delivery. The cards are also great for insulation between the logs, not to mention the awesome light display they make when you make a candelabra with card shades…. the little holes in the cards really make a beautiful light show.

My view from my front porch is my vista.

Oh, here's a photo of one of my 1,000,000,000,000 cards.

Bullwinkle you are too funny. Big Grin

Bobbleheaddad,
I bought a new system with vista loaded. I thought it was time to upgrade my printer and screen as well. Every place I went to, Windows XP was removed from the shelves. Eek

I heard today that if I do not like the system and under warranty I can request to have XP sent to install.

I just don't know anyone who has used it yet and hooked up either DSL or broadband.
A friend of mine just got his new Dell laptop, requested XP, but "gave" him the "free" "upgrade" to Vista. He is having many problems, from the usb ports, mouse works sometimes, then not, hours with the guys from India, gets fixed, then 3rd or 4 shutdown or go wireless and mouse/USB ports not working, to the charter virus protection (charter says they will have something compatible with Vista in the next few weeks....)

I too would like to buy a new computer, but know ALOT of my OLD software will not run with Vista, expecially my old payroll and accounting software, thus the win98
I still run on my main computer, Athlon 600 baby!! And a POS celeron 1.8 that is slow slow slow even with XP (which I like ok...XP that is.)

TPM who told you they would send you XP? Will it override Vista? Who did you buy from I guess I am asking.
