To all those who have posted about my son Jonathon, I would like to take a moment and tell you all what it has meant to us. I have been a voyeur of this sight for the past 3 years. I have read your posts and chuckled, LOL, disagreed, empathized, sympathized and felt humbled at various different times. OldBat-Never is a dear dear friend of mine that I go to, seeking baseball information (she is EXTREMELY KNOWLEDGABLE), seeking teenage rearing advice, girlfriend chats and the like. I will know her until I leave this earth. I have always been a tad bit envious of her relationships on this site as it has always been apparent no matter what the topic is, how close you all are. I never dreamed my son or family would be a thread but I want you all to know how much your kind words thoughts and prayers have meant to all of us.
When your child gets hurt in the game you have supported each and everyday that he has played, I will admit to you, all the intensity about baseball disappears in an instant and you are left with those you have chatted with, shared hotels with, laughed with, rivaled with, argued with, are all now praying for your child’s life. Side by side, shoulder to shoulder. I am so deeply grateful there are no words to express… I want all of you to know how important this has been to Jonathon as I read each post, and with help from OBN explained who different posters are. Jonathon’s words, not mine, “I am so lucky to have them, I wonder if they know are really lucky to have each other.”
Jonathon is home, moving gingerly, has some cognitive rehabilitation work to do, but has no motor skill or strength loss. He is expected to improve each and everyday. He wants to return to school, as he feels he is missing too much calculus and he is aching to get back to the field. Time will tell for each venue.
On this Easter weekend, please accept my deepest appreciation for your prayers and may God’s grace shine down upon you and yours always.
With much love, respect and admiration,
Jill LeGuen
