So to speak...

It's no secret to me that using a wood bat whenever I get the chance in pre-game BP or off a tee in a cage will help me be a better hitter someway, somehow. However, I have been through a few Demarini composite bats and they have been just OK to me. I recently dug up an old 34/31 wood bat that I had purchased from the Louisville Bat Company a few years back when I visited for only $15.00 due to a misprint on the barrel. I have been using it for a few weeks in the cage and on the field pregame BP and it feels absolutely beautiful in my hands and when I make contact. The ball jumps off the bat just as good, if not, better as a Demarini composite.

Does anyone else know of any quality solid wood bats for a decent price? I am convinced that some of the Demarini composites are over-priced for their quality.

I welcome any other opinions/thoughts.

$100 for a wood bat is nuts. It can split or crack in the blink of an eye.

Yes, but only because you didn't "center the baseball on the sweetspot!" My son and a number of others used the same "Maple" all Summer & Fall in Tournament play --- over 200 ab's each. What you learn about how to hit, using Wood, will be more than worth the investment which will probably end up far cheaper than the metal you generally need to replace annually anyway.
