My son attended a camp at a D2 program where they took a lot of data in addition to watching them play some games. They gave us the data and honestly we don't really know it's value, but the staff at the school were really into the all the data. So should my son be sharing this data to help with his recruiting? Is this something schools would like to know?

What were the metrics? Rapsodo, Trackman? Do you understand the data? Do you know where it stacks up?

Well we got a 60 time and a steal time. They had rapsodo and diamond kinetics, so EV, acceleration. They used radar for throwing velos. They also had some in game stuff that showed the location of the pitches and the type of pitch and whether he swung. I can't recall what that was called, but it's good feedback about his plate discipline and approach. I always questioned him about any of his strikes looking and his "excuse" was always "those weren't strikes" or "coach said to hold". After seeing his data I'm not going to question him anymore because he really does only swing at strikes. There was only one he watched, it was right on the outside edge of the strike zone.

If your son can use the data to improve, then it's a win.

Whether or not it's valid, these metrics form part of a data set about a player that are commonly used in recruiting.  60-time, EV, throwing velo, in particular.  You can use the numbers in an email, but I'm not sure about the etiquette of using numbers from one school's camp in an email to a different school.

You could give all this data to your travel coach, and have him be your source of verification.

The real question is, was the D2 school interested enough to open a recruiting conversation?

Yes, the D2 coach has spoken with son's travel coach. D2 coach has also initiated conversation directly with my son.

To borrow your thread title....now what?  What was the feedback from D2 coach to travel coach and D2 coach to your son?   This is the important stuff that matters.  Is there interest from the D2 coach?  Serious interest?  Offer pending?   What is the next step and timeline?

D2 to travel coach was basically this kid is a stud, can't believe this kid can generate this much hitting power and is this fast. He's definitely interested.

D2 Coach to son was basically compliment on his performance, and asking about what he's interested in studying and pursuing as a career. I think he's trying to gage his level of interest in their program and whether it would be a potential good fit. I think they're more or less in that "dating" stage.

Sounds like pretty good news to me.  D2 Coach is asking the right questions, and trying to get to know your son better.  At the least, this is great experience for you and your son to better understand the process and how different coaches operate & demonstrate interest.  At best, the coaches interest will turn serious based on your son's responses and interest.  Offers are rarely a bad thing.  Sometimes they can be confusing if you are getting multiple offers that overlap.  If your son sticks to his goals and plans for college & college baseball he can't go wrong.  Maybe this is the "one".  Maybe not.  You'll know when it is.   Best of luck!
