Batters starting 0-2---12/10
Batters getting into 3 ball counts---12/13
2 strikes in a row thrown to a batter---48/38
2 balls in a row thrown to a batter---21/21
3 strikes in a row thrown to a batter---14/14
3 balls in a row thrown to a batter---4/3

I never get discouraged by that because I know its difficult for a lot of people to think in such strange terms about baseball. Usually folks don’t go by what actually happens, but rather what their general perception was.

It was the 1st Det/NY game. For a score that was so different(9-3), the pitchers’ numbers I referred to are really very close aren’t they?

I have to be honest and say that just this morning I altered the way 3 ball counts were being counted. After looking at them for a while, I decided there should only be one 3 ball count registered per AB. It could really go either way depending on the person, but for me its gonna be 1 per AB.

Its really quite interesting to have some numbers for a ML game while its being broadcast. I often hear the announcers say something like, “He’s really pounding the strike zone”, then look at the numbers and see he’s only throwing about 58% strikes. Wink
