Hey TR....You comments can be self-serving even if you don't mention College Select in EVERY post you write. Since you have posted almost 5000 times here it seems since at times you do mention CS many on this board know of your affiliation. The fact that you don;t mention CS when you recommend players forces us to look on your website to see if you are being a "homer".
ONe post you mentioned that you only included the CS players because you haven't seen many others in NY....then you go on to name 3 others that don't play for you but are good prospects. So which is it, have you seen others or not? Did you include in your first post only College Select players for any other reason than to promote them at the exclusion of others? What do others think?
You are running a business. I believe we have a vested intereest in knowing when you are promoting that business as opposed to providing quality information. It is a fine line and I believe you crossed the line by promoting players that pay you money on a board such as this without identifing your financial bias of in that post.
Some of your posts are clearly in the spirit of sharing good information and ideas. People are wise to listen and evaluate the thoughts you share in those posts. When you start promoting players I believe you are on a slippery slope because of your financial interest in their promotion. We have no way to tell if you present reasonmable opinions or self-serving advertising.

Upstatedad,
How - exactly - did you obtain a "vested" interest in information presented on this site?
You pay nothing for it.
It is an free internet site.

LOL - Pathetic.
Here is the deal baggie.
Put the names of the players you think are the best in NY up on the site.
It isnt very hard to do.
TR - and others - will also do the same.
The purpose of the topic is to get the names out there. Not to trash TRHit - or anyone else.
You - apparently - cannot grasp that simple fact.
Wake up.

There are so many kids out there that don't get noticed. That's why I contact ALL the NY area HS coaches to get their input (granted a lot do not reply) My NY Prospect Report is sent out to all the college coaches that have requested it. TR can only mention the kids he deals with ...and any kid being recognized is ok by me.
Since we're on the subject of the Top prospects in New York, can someone name the Top prospects in the state of New Jersey?

How about we end it like this for baggie - since he appears to be refusing to stop the attacks.
J.bags is the best - most accurate talent identifier in the USA and noone knows talent better than j.bags. Especially in the northeast.
J.bags knows who every one is - even posters on the HSBBWEB - and knows why they post.
Only j.bags can tell us who is the best players are in NY. And j.bags has Baseball America to back him up. LOL
J.bags is the man - and TR blows.
You feel better now j.bags?
IMO - What a pathetic amateur you are. It is because of people like you that many youngsters run away from the game. And they should, if they are unfortunate enough to have to deal with you.
Buy a conscience if you cant develop one on your own.
P.S. If I had the ability to wipe out your denigrating posts - I surely would. They are a disgrace - and I will do whatever I can to make sure your ability to slander TRHit - - or anyone else on this board - is terminated as soon as possible. You - your buddy Upstatedad - and anyone else that participates in this personal slander need to go.

If this is what the NY baseball scene has evolved into - I am glad I got the h*** out of there.
Very very disappointing to see this cheap shot gang mentality.

j.bags,
You voiced your concern in the first post, and then you continued to hijack this thread with way too many negative jabs. Please stop now.
TR and I do not always agree, but as the owner of this site I don't see any problem with him mentioning top prospects who have played for his teams or in his events. It seems understandable that coaches or showcase owners would mention the players they have seen play most often. I think that if we required every post about "top prospects" to include every worthy player in a state or region, we would all end up reading a lot of repeated names.

It's interesting that discussions of who are the "top" prospects in NY tend to ignore anybody west of, say, Rockland County.
Who are the top prospects from Monroe, Niagara, and Onondaga or any of the other 50+ counties?
Lists of "who's the best" are always limited and subjective, whether it's baseball players or guitar players.

Pioneer,
I spent over 20 years - living in Westchester County - and watching alot of baseball throughout the state.
You are correct about the "publicity". Money is primarily the reason for what you have accurately noticed.
Westchester and Rockland Counties - along with several others including Dutchess/Orange and some counties in nearby Connecticut - have the resources for major promotion.
It has accelerated over the last 5 years or so.
There are so many great players that come out of Western and Northern NY State.
NY City and Long Island also produce large numbers of top level players - and get much less press than the affluent suburban comuunities - for obvious reasons.
BTW - Ozone - IMO has done a great job developng his talent identification network. I remember when he first started several years ago - and it seems that he is now really doing a great job of covering the NY City kids - as well as the kids from the more affluent areas surrounding NY City.
Regardless - the PG's - College Selects - Top 96's - Selectfests etc.. eventually find most of the really good ones.
Good luck.

Paul, well said.
Keeping in mind that some of the events run to help identify and promote the kids, PG, Top 96 and Team One are almost all held in CT, Mass, Long Island/Queens. Thus the lareger numbers of Eastern NY, CT and Mass kids.
Yes, for some of the city kids it may be a matter of economics. Dutchess Co should never be included in any of these lists since there really is only one and one from Putnam and that's because these few kids put themselves out there. HS coaches in Dutchess Co with one or two rarities, feel there kids don't need to travel and actually work on getting that exact point across. They feel that the one showcase they hold each fall will be sufficient. The kids I had are going to the schools they are because they they sacrificed and put in the time, effort and travel. And yes $$$$ for which they had to go out and raise it.
Like you and I both know you reap the rewards of hard work and sacrafice.

Coach Merc,
The Westchester/Dutchess/Putnam/Rockland/Orange County areas need more "baseball people" like you. IMO.
It has been a long time coming and I hope others follow your lead.
Regards - and my best to Joe.

This thread is a prime example of what is bad about this web site [only bad thing, really].
CBL asks a simple question - who are some of the good players in NY. He then names one of them, tvyanks names ONE, TR names EIGHT, and he gets jumped on?? Because he runs College Select and they happen to play for him?? Why not jump on CBL and TV - WHAT -- YOU GUYS DON'T KNOW MORE THAN ONE GOOD PLAYER IN THE ENTIRE STATE OF NY??? How come nobody jumped on them for their monumental shortsightedness?? [just kidding guys] There are lots of posts of TR's that I don't agree with, although I would readily agree that he knows a he11uva lot more about the sport than I do. The point is, CBL starts a post, asks what people think, and Upstart throws a roach is TR's soup, so the rest of us have to sift thru 4 pages of junk, in order to read a handful of informative posts, just b/c one guy wants to act like the south end of a moose.
I just wish that a moderator would wipe out the first incendiary post in a thread, in order to avoid this garbage. I'm here to share a little info, and learn a lot -- if I want that other stuff, I'll watch Despaerate Housewives.

Thanx for your kind words

I agree with Its on this one; Western NY could use somebody like you here, too. Your Prospect Report is very impressive.
I also have to tip my hat to TR in this one. I don't always agree with his point of view, but he knows his stuff, he's always in the kids' corner, and he plays guitar. He's offered to help my son several times and he's never even met me or my son. TR - I appreciate it, and watch out because I just might take up your offer and call one of these days!
Excelsior - NY (all of it)

WINDMILL, thank you...finally you people are getting it.. (not to be rude) but I started this so I can get some imput from EVERYONE...that is what these things are for right.. I ask a question - put some imput in of my own and you guys do the rest...can we just do that and not argue about it... we are all here to learn from eachother, it's okay to disagree sometimes...but we are taking it too far now...can we just get back to talking about the players in New York and not about TR or anyone else...thanks
- by the way TR I have absolutely no problem with your posts or anything you do on this website, I just dont know what everyone elses problem is.
Now lets get back to talking about the Tope players in New York, Thank you

Hirrel,
We're not to far from you, way over here in Putnam and Dutchess Co's. We actually had a pitcher from Delaware Valley HS over there somewhere....We do a lot of travel and will go most anywhere to play. I've seen lots of good players that don't get the mention. Even with the list of 07's, there were none from NY who I knew and I have a few plaing for my team that can match up with most anyone.
