I popped "Wan an. Xie xie" into a Cusinart and ended up with something the owner's manual refers to as a frothing puree...they warned me: "Do not disassemble, no user serviceable parts inside" and "Do not immerse in water. Possibility of electrical shock may occur, resulting in serious injury or even death!" Death? Wow...I'll just stick with liberty.

Wow...this is a tough one!

Considering the Wenling dialect this most likely means...in literal terms...

"The corn kernels are thoroughly cooked! I am eagerly awaiting your completion of cleansing the earthen bowls to contain this mesmerizing delicacy!" ...or something close to that.

And by the way...I sell lumber...so far, Canadian and U.S. lumber... no Chinese lumber yet.

I tried, but I can't resist translating --- "Wan an. Xie Xie." is Mandarin Chinese for "Good night. thank you".

Now, here's a really relevant word: "bang qiu". A hundred pretend dollars to the first one who get's it right!! Here's a clue. "Wo erzi dui bang qiu feichang you xingqu." = "My son is very interested in ... bang qiu." Have at it!

Woody,

No one ever accused the Chinese of being stupid... and they're not. The Federal Govt is placing very strict export quotas (like zero) on the exportation of lumber, even components (non down stream products), so the exportation of raw wood does not look like a thing of the future... look further north to Vladivostok, but watch your hind side.

I can't believe that a simple Good Night would get such response... you are a fun group.

In the new world of Political Correctness, you cannot refer to her as a dumb blonde... She is a "LIGHT-HAIRED DETOUR OFF THE INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY."

OhComeOnBlue:

You can ask for my 'Pinyin any time...I usually have one...or two...or more.

And cadDad...I've been hearing for decades that the Rooskies were planning on harvesting, selling, and shipping logs out of Vladivostok...they were going to treat the logs in transit with some sort of microwave apparatus which would effectively kill any pests and thereby making them legal and safe to allow entry into our country.

There has been a problem about most of the timber being harvested from within the range of the endangered Siberian Tiger. It's hard to believe that they would allow any environmental regulations get in the way of making some cash.

I don't know about you guys, but I have noted that some posters occupation, reflect their character. Very interesting!

Agree 100%. If my hubby posted on this site, no one would be surprised to learn that he is an air traffic control specialist, currently at management level and the Operations Manager (he supervises the supervisors) at LAX control tower. He has a controlling personality (not at all like the guys who appear on Maury Povich and the like) ... but he controls himself and his actions, hates to do anything to an extreme that would make him feel that he was not in control (e.g., getting drunk), and doesn't like to be in situations where he would feel out of control. He also has the ability to visualize the abstract (which is what radar controllers do essentially) and was an outstanding controller before he turned 'management' (to be come an outstanding supervisor and manager). I think that helped him in his coaching days 'cause he was not a ball player himself (other than one year of organized school ball in his Catholic elementary school) but had the ability to coach players very effectively.

As for me ... well, what can I say? I don't know if my occupation fits my personality or not.

Ha! Do me a favor OhComeOnBlue and teach our friend Krak in South Korea a romantic thing or two about pinyining...maybe, just maybe he would start making sense to the rest of us!

I'm getting giddy! Thanks OhComeOnBlue...it's not everyday business gets mixed with pleasure!

My last post on this --- didn't mean to digress from baseball --- sorry to all.

You don't have to offer your apology to me...feel free to pinyin anytime. In my book...the more pinyin, the better.

10 million sq ft? Good gosh, what do they build in a plant that large?

Cars and Trucks last car plant on the West Coast.
Also worked at one of the biggest buildings in the World for Boeing.
That building had to have it's own climate control. It could actually rain in the Building if it was not controlled.
EH
Just fine EH...thanks for asking. And how are you EH?

Yup...I'm ready! I've got my square feet on and I'm raring to go!

Who are you pulling for EH?

I'm certainly rooting, square feet and all, for the Bears of course, but this game could go either way.

Both teams have been very, very good at times this season and conversely they have been pretty bad at times also.

It just depends on which team, good or bad, shows up. I think the Colts best effort would beat the Bears, but it remains to be seen if they can bring their best game. The Bears have very little room for error, in my opinion.

EH:

Nothing at all like the wedges of sharpened cheese that gets heaved across the border when Favre and the Pack battle the Bears.

All is quiet on the front EH...Lovie and Dovie...ummm...I mean Dungy haven't stirred up any locker room material. Guess it will all have to be proven on the soggy field later tonight.

For fireworks we''ll have to depend on Mayors Daley and Peterson. Who knows what they have on the line? Maybe Daley could get rid of his Hired Truck scandal by passing it off as some sort of Super Bowl spoils...hide it in the really, really tiny print!

Occupation?
"lol" means laugh out loud in HSBW.
"LOL" means Limit of Liability in my business.

Contract Specialist (though not an attorney!)
Reach daily agreements between engineering, risk management, legal, contractors, suppliers & owners. Challenging as you can imagine! Can't get work done with a hand-shake as was true in my dad's day.

Watching baseball is an outlet & keeps me sane.
