The MSL got of to a great start yesterday as the 6 teams battled to 3 very close games.

In the first game of the day, it appears that the Orioles may have beaten the Pirates by one run (NOT THAT IT REALLY MATTERS). Pitchers of the game as voted by the college coach manning each dugout was Aaron Gilbreath of Colleyville Heritage and Travis Ballew of Rockwall. The 2 hitters of the game were Kale Kiser and Ryan Ford of Plano West HS.

In the second game, the swingin A's beat the Royals by 2 or 3 runs. Pitchers of the game for game 2 were Mitchell Pitts of FM Marcus and Alex Baker of McKinney HS. The hitters of the game were Ben Grisz of St. Marks and Andrew Johnson of Rowlett HS.

In the NIGHTcap, the Giants beat the Reds by 2. Pitchers of the game for game 3 were Trey Frazier of Prestonwood Academy and Jake Feckley of Wylie HS. The hitters of the game were Chase Durham of Flower Mound HS and TannerToal of SL Carrol.

The Metro Scout League passed out Scout Books to the following professional organizations throughout the day: New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Pittsburgh Pirates, Kansas City Royals, Seattle Mariners, Atlanta Braves, and Texas Rangers.

The following colleges were represented: Austin College, Brookhaven College, Paris JC, and NCTC. We also had one sports agent/advisor appear at the gameS.

NOTES- In the case of rain, do us a favor and call your MSL coach. Try and not call the number provided. Your coach can update you on the weather if needed. UTA has lights, so darkness should not be a problem. See everyone at UTA next Sunday.

If anyone has any questions, please call one of the directors or send us a PM.

This must be the single greatest thing ever invented in baseball. I have been waiting for two days for someone to come on here and say something negative, but not a word. Congratulations to the three organizations for pulling off - at least for one week - a successful fall program.

By the way Catcher, I am so dumb I spent all day trying to figure out who used the screen name COB from your post in the other thread.
It will take a week or two for the coaches to learn the players. My son was scheduled to play 2B for the innings when he was on the field -- and he is a SS/3B/P. Likewise, the 2B on the team was scheduled to play SS (the guys swapped positions after talking to the coach, no big deal). The combined in/out is a little dangerous as a few kids were hit by throws that came from places they did not expect. The umps were....ummm....below average. The 5:00/no lights/quiet period idea was a little "off"......and I think they should play 1/2 the game with metal. And the Yankee scout left early. Also, I think they should encourage kids that are hit by a pitch to charge the mound. They have to learn what to do when they get there....one way or another. Big Grin

Okok, I was just looking for a few negatives since many here like to dwell on those aspects. Have at it guys, but I think it is a positive deal. Cool

Cade, Sam, & Shayne -- this is a great concept. Thanks for taking a chance on it. It will be beneficial to many of these players as they progress. Smile Oh, and it turned out to be a great social event as well.

Ok, this is not a negative - just a point of that I hope will be considered in the future . . . the kids that are pitchers only should get the hill time first before the combination postional players. In that last game we saw kids get single innings and move to other postions before the pitcher only kids ever saw the field. Then the game was called due to no lights. I know there will be kinks - just a suggestion to be considered in the fut Big Grinure

Catch - you won't remember my daughters but you know my boy (think Dartmouth). My oldest girl just started college and is a member of the equestrian riding team. There are more styles of riding than most of us can imagine, western included. And just for conversation sake - equestrian sports makes select baseball look cheap.
Swami is exaggerating a bit anyway. East surrended an unearned run in the 6th. I agree that it was a good first game for both teams, regardless of the outcome. The Jackets have at 2-3 fine young pitchers. The Panthers will need to find more offense to survive in 9-5A.

Swami, it was nice to see you....bring swingdoc next time or that hot blonde you hang out with from time to time. It was good to see the rest of the Rock dads as well. Cool

By the way, if anyone knows the screen name of the Plano East coach....send me a PM. Big Grin
