We hope everyone had fun yesterday as we saw some major improvement from the first week. Pitchers are throwing more strikes as the average pitch count per inning decreased and the amount of extra base hits increased. The kids are really figuring out the wood bats.

In the first game of the day, it appears that the Giants may have beaten the swingin A's. Pitchers of the game as voted by the college coach manning each dugout was Chase Castilla and Andrew Smith of Rowlett HS. The 2 hitters of the game were Johnny Hendrixson of Sachse HS and Matt Reynolds of Coppell HS.

In the second game, the Orioles beat the Reds. Pitchers of the game for game 2 were Jeff Emens of Plano East and Aaron Galbreath of Colleyville HS. The hitters of the game were Dane Phillips of Nacodoces HS and Tyler Sibley of Frisco HS.

In the NIGHTcap, the Pirates beat the Royals by a game deciding dinger. Pitchers of the game for game 3 were Vance Woodruff of Forney HS and Travis Ballew of Rockwall HS. The hitters of the game were Ryan Parker of McKinney Boyd HS and Max Muncy of Keller HS.

The Metro Scout League passed out Scout Books to the following professional organizations throughout the day: New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, and Minnesota Twins.

The following Division 1 colleges were represented: Stephen F. Austin U, Centenary College, UT- San Antonio, University of Richmond, Dallas Baptist U, UT- Arlington, University of Houston, Texas Tech U, Texas State U, and Texas A and M University.

The following JUCOS, NAIA and D3 schools were represented: Western Texas JC, Hill College, McLennan College, Grayson College, Howard JC, Mc Murray University and Texas Wesleyan College.

I beleive that is 20 representatives from schools or professional organizations. Our goal for each week is 10-12, so we feel that the concept is working so far...

NOTES- NEXT WEEKS GAME TIMES WILL BE AT 9:15, 12:45, AND 4:15 BECAUSE OF NO LIGHTS AT NORTHWOOD.

Actually agsnhere, we were thinking the same thing about you guys having second thoughts. So far, most of our Tiger, Patriot and Blackhawk kids have played every inning in twice as many games as you, against good competition in front of lots of scouts. Several have made committments and are setting up lots of visits. I agree with Catcher, stop trying to stir things up and let everyone do it their own way.
Here is my weekly broken bat update:

DBAT 2 broken bats

Sam 1 bat broken

Mizuno 1 bat broken

Bullet Bat 1 bat broken

LS 1 bat broken.

Total of 6 bats broken. None in game one, 3 in game two, and 3 in game three.

1st week 13 bats broken:

2nd week 6 bats broken:

Not bad considering more innings played this week.

Also I know some of you are wondering if the wood bats are a good or bad thing. I received 2 emails today one from a pro scout saying this is the best thing going in the south and the wood bats are a plus. The other from a major college saying at first the wood bats threw me off but I quote “It does separate the man from the boys”.
