Now reading a great book about Tom Gorman, famous umpire for 30 years in the MLB. Book is named "Three and Two".

one story is humorous. Harry Wendestedt, a rookie umpire in the Cl;ass A Georgia League made a mistake of ordering his uniform from a catalog. He was assigned the plate and did not know umpires wore larger pants, however Harry pants were too tight.

During the 1st pitch there a "loud rip" the next day in the local newspaper a photo displayed the backside of Harry under the caption

"OFFICIAL OPENING"

PS: one day at the College Coaches Convention, Tom Gorman was the headline speaker and he related his stories of Leo Durocher and Left Gomez sitting at our table related his stories of Babe Ruth.
