If you look at the blue line in this video you can see he actually swings down until his hands get around his front hip area. I guess those "swing down" coaches aren't crazy.

99% of kids swing down naturally without the need for a cue. They will all be weeded out.
well with a little simple logic...the batters hand start somewhere around shoulder height and the ball is delivered somewhere in the strike zone betweens the knees and the belt...yea at some point in the swing every batter in history who has managed to make contact with a pitch below his shoulders has had to swing down.
