Now that the Yankee nation is again blown away at the cruelty of life not letting their "Most-Expensive-Team-Money-Can-Buy" play on, the talking heads are saying A-Rod needs to go elsewhere.

Who in the world can take on a 3B/SS for $25,000,000 per year? Maybe Exxon, maybe a mid-eastern oil magnate, but no other team can even come close to being able to put that kind of money on one player. To make it conceivable, Steinbummer would have to eat perhaps as much as $12 million a year for someone to take him off their hands. But with the ability to pay $200,000,000 per year (that's $1,212,121.22 per game), just for payroll, 12 mil comes out to 6% and they'd do it in a heartbeat.

Hats off to the Yankee organization for showing baseball naysayers that one can spend all the money they want, for all the superstar players they want, but you can't buy "team chemistry" at any price, even Balco doesn't sell that, and that might be the most important ingredient for success in this wonderful game.

Bless the Tigers; is there any team more fun to watch? Does "For the Love of The Game" sound like a good title for their highlight film, however far they go?

(And they give hope that just maybe someday the O's can get there...)

He puts up nice numbers April-August, though. Texas is paying about 8 million a year. George might pay some to see him gone too. Maybe the Dodgers who traded away LoDuca for Brad Penny who pitched one game before hurting himself worse, would make a move for ARod at, say, $15 mill a year? Maybe LAAA or the D-Backs? I think he gets shopped starting tommorrow, if not sooner.

I agree 100% that the Tigers have big Mojo right now. Comerica was really rocking this weekend.

For anyone interested MLB contract data is available at http://mlbcontracts.blogspot.com/

I think he has to leave the Yankees --- whatever his season numbers, his postseason performances aren't going to be forgiven.

It will be interesting where he ends up; he seems to have had limited positive impact on the teams where he's played. But after he leaves, those same teams have thrived. Coincidence, or weight off their shoulders?

Based on his contract (however many teams are paying), you could get two Albert Pujols for one Alex Rodriguez.

Hicks made an appallingly bad deal.....
A-Rod has a no trade clause, he will not allow a trade. His pride and ego will keep him in New York. If he allows a trade, he will be considered one of those New York failures, ala, Kenny Rodgers and Jeff Weaver. Further, it has been reported that Jeter's agent and Rivera's agent have contacted the Yankees and want Torre back. A-Rod has played for Pinella and would welcome him as the new manager. The Peyton Place that is the Yankees may give TO a break. It will be an interesting winter.
Team chemistry?

How about pitching? The Yankees had a mediocre pitching staff that was plenty good enough during the season when they were facing 3,4 & 5 pitchers more often than not who their potent lineup could hammer. When they got to the playoffs they had to face better pitching and good pitching beats good hitting.

The A's and Tigers have good pitching. The Cards have Carpenter and the Mets were able to take advantage of the Dodgers' bullpen. Pitching is what wins playoffs more often than not. Stacking the batting order only goes so far.

Right now the Yankees need to hope that the Angels get Zito via free agency so the Angels can afford to trade Santana for A-Rod. That would be a win-win trade. A-Rod would do just fine hitting in front of Vlad, and hopefully the Angels can get Nomar to hit behind Vlad. Erstad could be kept to back up Nomar when he goes down with injuries.
