First of all, I love college baseball so I am not taking anything away from the amazing talent and how much fun it is to watch. But I did just recently have this exact conversation with the parents of a player who reached the pinnacle of success as a hitter in college baseball.  They said that he told them that there is no comparison. That in college baseball once a series, you might face one or two pitchers who will have a successful pro career. He said day in and day out, even at lower level of the minors, you face guys with either insanely better raw stuff or insanely better control. Sometimes both. In his mind, especially when you add in the change from metal to wood, pro baseball is an entirely different animal. My husband always asks, how many SEC players are in the MLB HoF? The answer will shock you.
