If the high school and /or college coaches could chime in.  I am curious why sons HS coaches would elect to work out legs and then throw a bullpen... It seems backwards. The only thing I can think is that the players are actually in PE the last class of the day when they start baseball. I am thinking there is a rule that prohibits them from doing baseball specific things ( bullpen) during that time.

My concern is that they are throwing bullpens when their legs are depleted.  The coaches are pitting the two pitching groups against each other mentioning that this is the time the need to learn how to throw tired and that they are competing against each other for time.

Not that there is much I can do except wonder if this is something that is common place. working out then throwing a pen.  thoughts.

When you say working out legs does that mean they are blasting them to 100% max effort (or something close)?  If it's a yes then I think there might be something to worry about but if it's just a work out on a normal day then I think it's fine.  They are teenagers and they bounce back quickly so as long as they aren't max effort where it will take several hours to recover or they have the jelly legs syndrome they will be fine.

I understand that I'm taking a lackadaisical approach but I'm really not.  I truly believe in learning all you can about correct techniques, programs, safety, etc... but in terms of bounce back / recover I truly believe they are way more durable than we give them credit for.  They can work out, rest and then come back later and perform.
