Ozzie's home run...I was a Freshman in college, I couldn't believe that Niedenfuer gave that HR up...it killed me! Smile

Buckner's E3...I was a Sophomore, watching the game with my college roommate who was a huge Sox fan...it killed him!

Hank Aaron...hit that HR on my 8th birthday in 1974 against the DODGERS Al Downing.

McGwire's 62nd...I was here at home. I enjoyed how he acknowledged the Maris Family...it's too bad about the PED's.

Rose's 4192nd...I don't remember where I was, but I do remember Eric Show sitting on the mound which seemed classless.

Gibson's HR...I was at a co-workers house watching the game with him and his girlfriend (another co-worker). They weren't big baseball fans, but agreed to watch the game with me. After the HR, I jumped up with excitement and tackled them both on the couch. A couple of years later, I ended up marrying her...she now knows to be careful around the couch during the playoffs! Big Grin

ALSO OREL HERSHISER AND 59...I was at Qualcomm/Jack Murphy Stadium in San Diego in 1988 when Hershiser pitched 10 shutout innings against the Padres to break Don Drysdale's consecutive scoreless inning streak. Drysdale was very gracious and one of the first to congratulate Orel after the game.

1. The IF who dives for the ball that's just out of his reach

2. The IF who just dove for the ball hop back up to get in relay position to get the ball back in so the runner won't take the next base

3. When a team take IF / OF and you can tell their uniforms were just washed but they still have that stained look from dirt - shows they play hard

4. The look on an OF when he realizes the guy who just got a routine single is taking a huge turn and he has to hurry up and get the ball back into the IF

5. The way fans / players "talk" or the sound they make after a great play. Football and basketball has the "OOOHHHH" - but baseball has the "atta boys" and other things you can actually hear people say to appreciate it. Sorta like what someone said earlier about how baseball has it's own language

6. Killing time during a rain delay. I have no idea how many jokes and stories I've heard / told, dance contests i've seen and various other things.

7. The respect automatically created between two programs because my team who was on the road goes out in the just started rain storm to help the other team put the tarp on the field.

8. Having two guys that have to run poles for punishment ask to do it in a rain delay (no lightening) and start diving into the puddles each corner has. Then the PA guy giving judges scores on splash and style.

9. First college game (for me) and had no plans for a national anthem but a couple of drunk students in the RF corner starts singing (poorly) and both teams / fans / umps stand at attention until they finish

10. The friends I still have to this day because we played on the same team or against each other

11. The stories we tell when we get together and all the laughs we have. Although I believe the stories change each time we tell them they are still fun

12. When the OF doesn't even take off to try and catch a ball over his head because he knows it's landing in the parking lot

13. Dogpiles no matter who it is - this past spring we lost in the bottom of the 9th in the state championship. The other team was celebrating / dogpiling as their runner crossed home. I was devastated but could appreciate how much they were enjoying the celebration because they earned it.

14. Seeing a kid come in as a freshman and my first thought is "wow I don't think this kid will make it" and then four very short years later he leaves as a young man who is a very valuable member of the team

15. A team who can turn double plays in games and make it look easy

16. Pitcher covering first on groundball to the right side

17. Teams that throw the ball around so fast / well you want to get a stopwatch out and time it even if you have no idea what you're trying to time

18. The fact you can go to a game and spend 3 hours watching it and feel like you were there 5 minutes

19. Snowcones after the game, getting the hat at the start of the year, putting on the uni for the first time of the season and seeing people in the stands

20. Hotdogs, pepsi, peanuts and seeds

Chatter! I love it.
Back when "spray freeze" was allowed practicing cryogenics on insects.

Watching a teammate fall on his face getting off the bench after someone secretly sprayed his leg when he was'nt paying attention.

Learning how to juggle in the bullpen so I didn't go crazy after always being in the game before college.

- Watching how much fun his Mom would have running along the outfield fence, picking up baseballs

- Doing all the proper "yes sirs" with the cop who pulls up and tells us we're not supposed to be using the field

- Doing it all over again on Tuesday and Thursday evening

Beautiful.
