Orland Park Sparks

I know Zych goes to St. Rita HS. I'm not sure what school Coffey goes to. I think they both will be pitching varsity in Highschool this year. My opinion.

These kids are Freshman? Rita must be thin if they are dipping down to a frosh for a pitcher.

Fastball, actually Zych is a sophomore. He's a very good pitcher, and it wouldn't surprise me if he played some at the Varsity level this year.

I understand that Zych will be starting the season on sophs. Rita varsity staff too deep for him to break into it right now... Only time will tell...

Tony Zych is a quality pitcher, and when he pitches the Sparks always have a chance to win. The Sparks are far from being one of the best teams in the state though. The Sparks won alot at the younger ages. The team over the last two years at the 13 and 14 levels were just decent. Maybe this Coffey kid will help them if he's as good as some are saying. I've never seen him play. What team was he on last year? For the Sparks to be taked about as an elite sort of team this year, they need to get alot better.

The Sparks are a well run organization and well known throughout the community. They don't post records or go on message boards raving about the players they have. They don't have to. They are teaching and playing for fun. It doesn't matter how many tournements they win - and they have won many. The people that are out there to "out do" a (no name) coach - where is it going to get you??? This organization is well established and if they are #1 or #10 it doesn't matter - who is doing the rankings anyway? Isn't this suppose to be for the players? All of them - not the Dad's or Coach's egos Enough said!

The Sparks organization has always represented themselves well in the travel community. The quality and fairness in regards to team seeding in their tournaments is a testiment to their integrity. They seem to work hard on skill development for the future and have never seemed to approached games with the do or die mentality of others.

I can't speak for all age groups, but I don't know if I agree with Isc on that one.

Didn't mean to open up a can of worms. Fastball, I agree with your statement. Anyways, when teams aren't as successful in the "w" column then they say it's not about winning. All teams try and win and always try to improve every day. It's just some teams go about it with different formulas and methods. The Sparks are a decent program. I never said they weren't. Though many teams in the south have stronger teams. It wasn't that way years ago, but it is now. PS. Tony Zych is a great pitcher not just a quality pitcher. I just use the word quality alot.

I've seen the 14 year old Sparks team play in Arizona last spring. They have a nice team. I'm sure they are a very good local team. I don't see them competing consistently on the national scene, but I don't think they play in the big world series across the country. I hope they enjoyed their visit and tournament to Arizona last year. They had alot of nice families at the tournament. Feel free to come back again. Best wishes in 06.
