A player from a small private high school in Orlando, Windermere Prep, tied the record hitting 5-HRS and 17-RBI in the same game (5-inning game). Windermere Prep won the game 38-0 and senior Austin Glorius walked and hit a 3-run homer in the 1st. He followed that with a grand slam and a 3-run double in the 2nd, a grand slam in the 3rd, and 2-run homers in the 4th & 5th innings. He would have finished with 18-RBIs but a runner was called out for missing a base on his last HR. Five others have hit 5-HRs in a game (2009-Nevada last time), and he tied the RBI record set by a GA high schooler back in 1948). Pretty crazy!

5 years ago I was at Wheaton Academy (W of Chicago) doing a varsity game against Newark, IL. A tall, really skinny kid comes up in the 6th and hits a building's roof behind center - about 10' left of the 385' sign; about 20' up the roof. I thought at the time, "man - he crushed that"! The center fielder didn't move. A big deal? ... not at the time. But as I was driving home, I kept thinking about it. So I called the A.D. the next day and told him where it hit. Here's what he told me: the building is 4 stories tall, it is 25' from a road that is 15' wide that is 35' from the fence in center. And he hit the ROOF - 20' UP! The trajectory was not flat - but it was not looping either. Do your calculations ... then call me a liar. But I was there. Smile Didn't make any news at all. BTW: virtually no wind. In fact, it was cool and dampish. Any other events like this you've witnessed?

I didn't think of that ... just measured ... 502'! I have a new computer which didn't have any google earth. just installed v.6. Really nice! Starting to really get off topic here - but has anyone ever paid for the upgrade? I hear you can see someone eating a swiss cheese sandwich.
Bryce Harper....a Las Vegas High phenom hit a 500ft home run in Tampa Rays stadium during a HS all-star HR contest. Was a catcher in high school, but is getting moved to left field by the Washington Nationals as he was the first pick taken in last year's draft. Got his first hit last week on his 3rd AB in 2-games (was 0-2 in game-1). The Nationals could be good in a few years if some of their prospects turn into MLB players
After working a game with Mike Trout last season, I became a huge fan.

MVP of two different leagues last season and named MLB's top this year, this kid is fantastic. Like Bryce, he was drafted out of high school but he demonstrates a maturity level Bryce hasn't reached yet.

Even though he's slated to start off in AA this year, my money is on him being in AAA by the All Star break.
