Recently had 4 plays in the same out of play area near 1st base. Two were clearly out with both feet and catch was made in both, one was catch and carry with a run scoring on the carry. The last one which is my concern, the first baseman dove for the ball laid out completely, body on the ground in play, glove on the ground out of play and makes the catch. I called no catch due to glove on the ground. I think I blew that one. Help!

I think this 2104 interp will help: SITUATION 19: F7 makes a diving catch. As he slides over the line designating dead-ball territory, his feet remain in live-ball territory. Is the ball dead? RULING: The ball remains live and in play. F7 must be entirely in dead-ball territory before the ball shall be declared dead. As long as any part of F7's body is touching the designated dead-ball line, the ball remains live. (5-1-1i)

The glove just being on the ground has no bearing on the ruling of a valid catch.........the glove was on the hand. It was controlled, the ball was secured in the glove and never touched the ground.... does that sound correct?.............

That fits the definition of a catch.
