Swinging with a heavier bat (10-20 oz. heavier) then switching to a lighter bat (10-20 oz lighter) and then swinging with your regular bat...does it really work?
It depends on what you mean by "does it really work"? For conditioning to develop bat speed yes, but I think the 10 - 20oz. might be too much. I would stay in the 5oz range, heavier and lighter.
For on deck warm-ups, I read an article a few years back where they discovered that if you stay within 5% heavier on deck, your normal bat will feel lighter and you will increase your bat speed. If you go too heavy you will actually fatigue your muscles and your game bat will feel lighter but your bat speed will be lower.

Yes, to a certain point. If you go too far over, your body slows down. If you go too far under, you use the wrong muscles.
