I see a lot of kids come in and close a semi-final game for a inning or two, then come back a hour or later and start a championship game and go 6 innings. I have heard this was worst then pitching 10 straight innings. Once the arm gets loose and heated up, it doesnt matter how many innings you go you should let it rest before letting it get cooled down then pitching again.
This happens a lot at younger levels, maybe that is the reason for all the arm trouble you see......

You just explained exactly what I did last year and ended up having arm problems. I ended up having to go to physical throwing during the winter to heal and then strengthen my arm. After that I think my coach realized to lay off so much pitching. People gotta remember we're still kids not fully grown..and we're people who aren't invincible so you have to be careful with your body. I almost didn't want to pitch anymore because of the pain but all that is behind me and I don't pitch as much as I used to but now at a pretty good amount.
I have seen this many times done to young players when son was younger. Lots of excuses were, the weather was warm so it was acceptable.

Pitchers coming into throw one, two pitches to end the game and begin the next in championship games can happen, I suppose once in a while it cannot hurt, but not on a regular basis.

TP,
I am sorry that a coach did that to you. I hope that you will realize thatit is YOUR arm, YOUR future and speak up if it happens again.

I'm wondering.. before you had arm problems, 1) did you work with pitching coaches on your mechanics, and 2) did you long-toss?

The following is a general observation, and may not apply to your personal situation..

Overuse is a legitimate worry, but think about it this way. If my car's has an alignment problem, I will "overuse" the tire after about 3,000 miles. With good alignment, maybe 30,000 miles.

The alignment is mechanics. The endurance is the brand of tire.
