Just a couple years ago he led the Sox to the World Series. Now you want him gone. Have you looked at the Sox batters stats? I am pretty sure they don't have 1 batter batting over .300. So Ozzie isn't completely to blame for what has happened, although I understand that the manager is somewhat responsible, I just have a hard time blaming him when none of the White Sox players have lived up to their or anyone else's expectations.
Exactly, TR.

He was lucky. We Sox fans were lucky.

I've seen enough of his act to know that it won't last long term with anyone.

Adios, Ozzie.

And Williams is even worse. He hasn't found a centerfielder, that can play centerfield, for 3 years! What is with the yoyo back and forth with Charlotte players? Owens isn't ready. Sweeney isn't ready. The pitchers aren't ready. Cooper is an idiot and he doesn't "coach" anyone. Every see the stats for the starters? That's Cooper's job.

You played around all year with Buehrle...played around with Dye....Screwed around with Crede.

I've seen enough.

I don't like Mariotti, but he's right this time.
This is what happens when people think they are smarter than everyone else. Yes the sox won it a few years ago, but lik emost teams it was a result of a lot of things coming together.

Reinsdorf, Williams and Ozzie decided it meant they were smarter than anyone else and thier way of doin ghtings was the reason they won.

Reinsdorf's refusal to sign even the best pitchers to any kind of competitive deal will keep their pitching staff in a constant state of turnover and keep it full of prospects. No matter how many sox fans bought tickets (about 9 million the last 3 years) he will pocket the money instead of paying the players. It wasn't long ago when they were saying if the fans came out, they would cough up the higher salaries for high quality players.

Williams thinks talk means a lot because that's all he does.

Ozzie was the right guy at the right time a few years ago, but like Ditka and The Bears he is no longer the right guy. They both lost their teams within a season or so fo their championships.

If Buehrle goes to free agency in this market he will make a lot more than the sox are offering.
Team Salaries for 2007 from USA Today:

1 Yankees $189,639,000
2 Red Sox $143,026,000
3 Mets $115,231,000
4 LA Angels$109,251,000
5 White Sox$108,671,000
8 Cubs $ 99,670,000

Reindorf is cheap? Come up with another one. That BS has been going around for years. Frankly, I think it smacks of Anti-Semitism because the facts don't bear it out. He hasn't signed pitchers to long term deals. It is almost always right. He was attacked for not signing Jack McDowell, and he was right then. It is easy for fans to say "pay all the players". Just paying doesn't work. The Yankees don't win every year. And the 5th highest payroll means the Sox are paying someone. You can attack player moves, but he was willing to pay when he thought it might help. He paid for Albert Bell, he kept Konerko. He picks spots, but that is his choice. He doesn't have to pay everyone whatever the fans want every time not to be called "cheap". If he is cheap, 25 other teams are cheaper.
bballdad, you are clearly entitled to your own opinion.

The only thing I'm going to take issue with is your comment about "smacking of Anit-semitism."

THERE IS NOTHING AT ALL THAT SHOULD LEAD YOU TO THAT CONCLUSION WHATSOEVER.

I made the comment that when it comes to pitching, the sox refuse to invest in it. It is a stated philosophy of the team's management.

As far as "pocketing the money" there have been plenty of owners Jewish or otherwise who have done the same over the years.

Don't make a few comments into something they aren't. If your remark was towards me, I take huge offense.
and.....we don't have to look far to find one TR.

baseballdad1954 is absolutely correct. I'm sure he was not speaking of anyone in particular on this board...just a general sense that because Jerry is a Jew he's somehow cheaper than the next guy. This opinion is prevalent in Chicago, particularly with anti-semites. For goodness sake, the city has 7 World Championships because of Jerry. He has spent wisely and when he had to!

When it comes to "Cheap" and being a rotten person lets talk about "the old Roman". Comiskey single handedly caused the "Black Sox" scandle because he was a rotten human being with no regard for his chattle!...a very un-Irish and thoroughly despicable owner indeed.

That doesn't make him peculiar either...owners asked for what they got with Curt Flood and Andy Messerschmidt etc....for about 100 years!

I thought great points were made in this post except for the Anti-Semitisim comment which seems like a low blow to me.

Since I have already been called out as being a "right-winger" and perhaps inferentially a racist by bbdad1954 - I am going to speak my mind on this one. There often seems to be a bit of anger or rage in your posts. If coming here gets you that upset, please, please avoid reading or posting here any further. Otherwise, try being friendly as it just might help get your valid points across in a more effective manner.
soxnole

see what I mean---what does a man being Jewish have to do with this discussion---The man is successful and whether you want to admit it or like some of the best business man I have dealt with are Jewish and are great men

Talk about SMALL MINDS soxnole--- where I come from all are equal---your mind is absolutely MINUSCULE

Why do you have such a chip on your shoulder for people who might be a bit smarter and more open minded than you/

You must be extremely lonely in your very small world there in Chisox land
For the record, I apologise if anyone thought I was referring to an individual as anti-semetic. I did not intend to paint any individual with that brush. I can't look in to peoples hearts on a web site. But the cheap label has been tagged on Reinsdorf, even in the face the facts. It is what it is.

As far as rage...please. This is a baseball site. I save rage for things like wars being waged... but I am not going there in this thread.

great condescending attitude from a mind from the north suburbs--typical of your thinking

Perhaps in the north suburbs that is logic but from where I was brought up it is total PREJUDICE and BIGOTRY---

You continue to live your life the way uyou want with that small mind---I will live mine and not try to change you-- we can all get along but stay out of my neighborhood---PLEASE

Thank goodness my parents brought me up--I also take it you do not like JEWS---too bad for you

Dont worry about my uptake---it is swifter than you think especially since I am not in the "north suburbs"

Dont feel sorry for me sir--I have no concerns and if you are feeling sorry for me you are the loser here---

Let me ask this --why bring in the anti semiticism statement?---it has not bearing in the discussion excpet in your mind

Why do people have to always get into ethnic situations?---it has no bearing here or any other place in sports
OK fellas. Here it is. bballdad1954 and TRhit, you can take whatever it is that you're trying to do or say to the PM mode.

I've been away in Georgia for a week and this is the stuff that I come back to read. There must be another forum better suited to your discussion, but this is not the place. Please, let's end it now. Thanks.
JP,

Yes he did. Quite a stage for some great 18's to show their stuff. His team got to play one game at the East Cobb complex and while they lost, I hope he remembers the experience. But John, as I'm sure you remember, all of the fields used in this tournament are just tremendous. The HS fields are better than any I've seen up here, something about that red Georgia clay and perfectly groomed grass. When the weather cooperates, all runs smoothly.

Hey, doing some channel surfing and turned on the Texas Collegiate League All-Star game. Anything's better than watching the home run contest and listening to Chris Berman. Maine West's Tyler Ladendorf is starting at 2nd base for one of the squads and is having an outstanding run at Howard College in Texas. Great player overcoming some serious shoulder surgery. Currently a draft and follow of the Yankees.

First, Garland gives up 11 earned runs in 3 innings before the manager removes him from the game.

Last night, Buehrle gives up 14 hits and 7 earned runs in 6 innings before he gets the hook.

The pundits are right, Ozzie, 2005 was just a "fluke" and not because of any of your managerial skills. Admit it, you got the job because you were a White Sox organization guy for a long time.

Please resign.

Enough is enough.

Kenny Williams: How long are you going to "stay stupid" with this club and manager?

Bring all of your best prospects up and let them get some big league experience. No chance in their division the way it looks now.

Simple as that.
----------------------------

By the way, whatever happened to actually RUNNING to first base? Thome? Pierzynski? Uribe? Iguchi? Dye? Konerko (the worst offender)?

Konerko and Thome are far slower to first than Ramirez. As a matter of fact is there a slower team in the Major Leagues than the sox?

Although I do think Ozzie is the wrong guy for this sox team, you can't blame it all on him. His team is slow, bad defensively, has two or three Major League Quality starters and the worst bullpen in baseball. None of them....players or management, are showing any hunger or desire. Ozzie's biggest failure is not being able to overcome the complacency that this team has adopted.

They need to back up the truck. They only have two untouchables on the Major League Team...Garland because he is decent and cheap, Buehrle because he is decent and cheap (by today's standards.) They wouldn't miss any of the other players one bit.
Soxnole, On this one, I think you're just plain wrong. Bad leg and all, Lou has Ramirez running better than at any time I can remember. Scoring from 2nd on a single, going from 1st to 3rd. Maybe you're seeing something I'm not (what a surprise).

Konerko is slower than anyone I can remember, and isn't running hard on top of it.

No...In baseball, you are only as good as your next game.

Ozzie s...s this season and he knows it.

Sophomoric decisions at the major league level. Maybe he doesn't know any better?

We thanked him for 2005.

The purge has begun...with Iguchi gone...Dye will be next...Cubbies can use him in right field. They'll trade Buehrle in September if they have no chance. Vasquez is durable and should be kept, along with Garland.

Sox are looking towards 2009-2010.

Good for them.
