This may have been posted before and if so my apologies. I need some help from my fellow HSBaseballWeb folks!

I help to run a local American Legion team and we play games at one of the nicer HS facilities in the area. Unfortunately we do not have access to the PA system at the field. I'm looking to purchase some speakers we can throw on a stand, something to plug a mic and computer in to play music and that's about it. Want something that sounds pretty good but not crazy expensive. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the help!

bballcoach44,

I'm not sure of your budget however we purchased a portable sound system for around $500 that worked out great. The system packed up into a self contained carrying case that included the control panel, 2 microphones, wiring and two speakers that broke away from the case when needed. Add in an ipod and you're ready to go.

We used the system on game day for National Anthem, player introductions and walk up music however it was so easy to set up the coach also used it to play music during portions of team practices.

They have a few different models depending on how much power you need however here is a link for the one we purchased. behringer sound system

Hope this was what you were looking for.

I'll second the all-in-one systems. Easy to set up and break down. Pack it up and take it with you. bballcoach, if you have a local Guitar Center or Sam Ash Music store visit them for a demo. If you're gonna use an ipod, bring it with you.

If you buy one, don't just bring it to the field. Practice at home, first. Put a mlb game on tv and treat it like your own game/team. Announce the batters, play music between innings, read your "make sure to visit the snack bar" announcements. Find the National Anthem recording you want to play. When you get to the field, you won't be nervous. You've done it before.

I wish 2Bmom still posted here. She really knew how to put on a show with the PA. She was into it.
