Sadly, this is no longer unbelievable. Great coach and great program. Won the Massachusetts Division II state title two years ago, moved up to Division 1 last year and won the Division 1 state title this year. Yet that isn't good enough, apparently, if "little junior" doesn't get to play. Jeez....

When he's done coaching, Fredericks says he plans on getting into umpiring and refereeing.

Is he nuts ?

He has to set rules and punishment at the start and let the AD know what they are and agree to them. Parents and players also have to agree to them and up hold them regardless of who the player is.

Kirk's dad is Donny Fredericks.
He won (mulitple?) baseball state championships at Braintree HS. He is now a basketball ref, assignment coordinator & baseball ump while running the EMass state baseball tournament.

If you're a good coach, parents will still find a way to push their beliefs onto you. If you're a good umpire, no one has any reason to get in your face. I know both of these from first hand experience.

Coach Fredericks is a great guy. He's an assistant coach with the NE Ruffnecks 18U team. The players like and respect him and I have yet to see a parent give him, or any of the other coaches any grief.
