Patriot District tourney

TC beat Annandale 6-2 in 8 innings over 2 days (due to rain), and the TC-West Po game was cancelled, clinching 4th for the Titans. West Po won the first game of the doubleheader 2-1 against Lee on Saturday, I believe that got them 5th place, dropping Annandale into 6th.

SC routs Annandale 20-5. Homeruns were the difference with Joe Townsend hitting his second granny against the Atoms(this year), Digby(8th) and Adams(1st) hitting 3-run bolts. Brennan Miller picks up his 7th win, going 4 innings with 7ks... Next up LB....3rd time a charm??? Hope so

The SC/LB game was very exciting, all the runs scored in the 1st inning. Seth Jordan a 3-run HR for SC. LB had bases loaded in the 7th but couldn't get the equalizer.

The WS/TC was..well...not very exciting. The only people I feel worse for than the TC players are the fans who had to sit and watch it. Mercifully it ended after 4.5. Springfield only had 5 hits.

With WS the clear favorite, will SC's bats show up 1-9. 1st game 6-9 carried them, 2nd game 1-5 did the work. Is Wahl at 100%? I heard he got beaned at practice....any truth to that or is it just another smokescreen. Eitherway this should be a very entertaining game, hard to beat someone 3 times in a year. If they do then they're truely deserving of the title. It won't be easy.....

Wahl had a concussion. I'm sure he is fully recovered in time to pitch for SoCo. Kent can also pitch - I think he only pitched 2 innings on Friday. With 2 ace pitchers, they may not have any problem beating SC 3 times.

Rollapair - I sat through the first 2 innings WS/TC game - it was painful for no matter who you were rooting for. I think it was 50 minutes for one inning.

What is up with the TC Coaches leaving a kid on the mound for 9 unearned runs? Were they paid off by WS?

Who do you all think WS will throw tonight? I believe both Kent and Wahl are available

If I were a betting man - I'd bet on Wahl.

You can bet it will be Wahl with Kent available for relief if it goes extras or if Wahl is not sharp

Game suspended after 14 innings, and will resume tonight at 7pm at Lake Braddock. Someone else can talk about the individual performances...i gotta get some sleep! But I will say, Brennan Miller pitched the game of his life!

He wouldn't let them take him out...They asked several times but that was his game to win or lose.

No player who has the fire to win ever wants to be taken out. But at some point, coaches have to do what's right for the kid -- and having him pitch 150 pitches ain't it, IMHO...at some point, you gotta trust the pen...

what are they playing for? sseeding?

I agree with gr8day- this is the coaches call - not a players. Letting a 17yr old make a coaching decision is ________ (you fill in the blank).

But props to both teams.

It was a great pitching game. Both the pitchers for both teams were great last night. Kent must have closed in on 100 pitches too. Miller was the hot topic in the stands throwing 164 pitches, but someone that was standing nearby heard him pleading with the coach to stay in - apparently he is going into the police academy and considers this week his last pitching days and he really wanted that district championship against his much more highly touted rivals. He won the debate the first two times Luther was pulling him but Luther cut him off after the third debate started. I agree that no kid should be throwing that many pitches, but the rest of the story makes it a bit easier to understand. In any case, he pitched an incredible game and even though he didn't get the win, he can certainly retire (if the rumor about the police academy is true) knowing he out-pitched Kent and Wahl in this game.

I suspect that when it comes time for him to throw Friday in the Regionals and he has some issues, that everyone associated will wonder why it was so important last night. Long term issues most likely won't occur from one night of overuse. But it could affect his next couple of performances.

I understand that West Springfield won on a squeeze play in the 16hth. No details.

I asked Miller today at BP how he was feeling and he said,"I'm a little tired but I could throw today." Kid loves to pitch and has a rubber arm.
Story of the game went as follows: SC had 2 harmless innings at the plate, WS went 1,2,3 in the 15th.The 16th Renner flew out deep to right and Digby made another sick catch against the foul fence, Morgan doubled, Tobin hit one off the wall which again was almost grabbed by Digby, Wahl was walked to load the bases and Snook squeezed in Morgan. Congrats to WS, they deserve it!!!
