Question: Should high school coaches be paid to only coach and should they be paid full time to only coach their sports (maybe a second sport) instead of being a teacher and coach?

Many high school coaches are teachers and I feel that if they had more time to work with the players, they could do a better job with the development of the kids.
Be so good that they can't ignore you!

High school is SCHOOL. I suggest that all high school coaches be required to be teachers. Maybe if they were teachers first and coaches second they could better understand the total concept of academics AND athletics. This would insure they could assist in the proper development of young students more effectively. Most larger college coaches are coaches only and many saw (and some still do) academics as a distraction from their athletic goals. Easy courses and manipulating schedules has had a negative impact on college academics. These "athletics over academics" practices in the past are being addressed in the college ranks and attempts are being made to correct them. Let's not attempt to do the opposite in high school.
