The 'glove check' Peralta failed. it's too bad for him they weren't just interested in doing a 'cup check', because at 1:40 it's obvious by his numerous taps he was in complete compliance.
As far as the violation goes, rules are rules...right? If some are to be overlooked and others not where would the line be drawn? If a rule is obsolete can it be eliminated?

Looking like it was pine tar. Joel Peralta was a little more reserved than George Brett. I can't believe they let him take the ball with him. (I guess they didn't want it after 1:40)
They found an illegal substance in his glove. They confiscated and secured the glove.
