My son asked me a question the other day which I have not been able to find the answer to, so I will inquire here.
Most college players never make it to the minors, much less the majors and that is something all players will have to wrap their mind around sooner or later.
However I think there is a belief, that players in D1's are more likely to be drafted than players in D2, D3, or NAIA programs. Now I'm sure that if a top player like Strasburg is playing somewhere other than D1, someone will find him. But if a player is good enough to get drafted in the later rounds out of a D1, would a player with equal statistics and ability also be drafted in the later rounds coming out of the other divisions?
Is there any statistical data on the number of kids drafted out of the various divisions in college baseball?
