Looking for some comments and information on the benefits of doing a PG event. What age is best? Fall events are during his down time (Pitcher) and his summer team is not participating in PG this year. A local event scheduled in McKinney and one in Blinn late August is the only option with his schedule.....are these a benefit for a D1 prospect. Thank you for your response

Paw,

I highly recommend you look for ways to get him in front of the PG Staff and the scouts / coaches at those events. Showcase or a team event, even if it is in the fall, just delays the start of his "off" time. Even after traveling to Florida my son was able to take 80 days off without throwing and he just started back last week.

My boy hasn't participated in any of the Perfect Game Showcase Events but he did go down to Florida for the two WWBA October events. He did that as a guest player because the summer team wasn't going as a team.

The results have been great; the mail box continues to deliver requests for him to fill-out questionnaires and to stay in-touch with D-1 college coaches.

His select team is traveling to Atlanta again this summer for the WWBA 17U Nationals and he hopes to for a better result for his team and personally this year.

From my perspective it is great to see him fully engaged in the recruiting process. The Florida event really opened his eyes to how many very talented baseball players there are around the country. He knows he is fortunate to get the chance to even be considered for a spot at a D-1 school.

Tychco is right that your boy might get an early offer but what about the draft or is that early offer the best offer to take? The added exposure can't hurt.

The trip to Florida was well worth the money and I wish I had known (meaning = understood and acknowledged) about PG and all their events / showcases during his freshmen year. He would have attended one of the Showcases before his sophomore year and again sometime in the last 6 months.

From watching all the top level players he knows in the area we now believe that taking advantage of what PG has to offer works very well to complement what the select team offers for both personal growth and baseball exposure.
