I have several questions about the PG 2011 National Underclass Showcase-Main Event.

Who is a typical participant? (age, skill level, etc.)

How difficult is it to get an invite?

How much does it cost? (I did not see any cost listed on the PG website)

Is this event heavily scouted by college coaches?

Thanks in advance!

My 2013 went to the main event in Ft. Myers last year. Good event with over 500 participants. Probably 300 were 2012's, 175 were 2013's and a few 2014's. I think that pretty much anyone who has played baseball at a higher level can get an invitation if you apply. It's $600. It is held between Christmas and New Years and is a dead or quiet period so there will be no D1 Coaches therer. There were several pro scouts and small schools. However, the big schools follow the event via the PG information- measurables, top prospect teams, lists, etc...and, as long as you perfrom, it gets you in the database and on the radar. If you haven't done a PG event I'd strongly suggest attending. Just make sure your son is working EXTREMELY HARD and is ready for it...
Thanks johnj314 and 2013 Dad - that was exactly the kind of feedback for which I was hoping.

johnj314, my son has not participated in a showcase yet - so I am concerned about whether this particular one would be appropriate for a first timer. He is a 2014 and plays for a high level travel program, but up to this point, they have not participated in WWBA events, at least not to my knowledge. Although his team's organization has not been involved with PG/WWBA, they have been very successful in regards to having their players' receive scholarships and get drafted. I am trying to weigh the benefits of this showcase versus a college camp or smaller closer showcase.

Mo Dad- I'm not sure if your son plays for the Rawlings Prospects or not (they don't play PG events and are in the Premier Organization) but a 2013 player who played for me for 3 years until 15u plays for the Prospects. He recently went to the Midwest Underclass in Cedar Rapids at the end of August. He was #1 on the top prospect list and received a grade of 9. That event has gotten him more exposure with colleges than the Prospects team got him last summer. He also went to Jupiter on a Perfect Game (White) team...
