Hello, and thank you in advance for your time (this is my first post!).  My 2015 son was invited - on a regional team - to the PG underclass national championships in Goodyear AZ September 13 - 16th, 2013.  I am not familiar with this event.  Has anyone been to it?  Is it worth another trip (they are getting expensive, then again this is the year we'd like to take advantage of all good opportunities)?  How is the exposure?  How does it compare to other fall events?  Any information and opinions would be welcome.  Thanks again!

I'm kind of an East Coast guy so I've never been to this one, nor to its upperclass counterpart.  But it appears that this may be PG trying to develop counterparts to the Ft. Myers/Jupiter WWBA events in October, so that participation can be expanded and so that teams in the western part of the country have an option that is more accessible.

I've been preparing for our team's trip to Ft. Myers this year and I notice that the tourney field there has grown to 2 1/2 times its size from just 7 years ago.  Jupiter has not grown much, really can't grow within its current structure, and that leaves a lot of teams looking for an alternative.  Also, as the recruiting calendar has advanced for most colleges, Jupiter now really comes late in the process, so something a month earlier might be a great alternative.  So I can see a lot of wisdom behind offering options out west.

Maybe PG Staff can clarify for us?

Our team just dropped out due to too many families concerned about costs and conflicts with school.  Third major tournament in as many months, it does get expensive and time consuming.  We were leaning toward it, though I had concerns too.  There are so many events these kids are getting invited to, it's hard to know which ones and how many are really worth it.  We were in Ft. Myers a few weeks ago, great tournament, but quite a haul from the Northwest!  AZ is much easier, indeed.  Thanks, MidloDad, and best of luck to you.

Now onto the regional tournament we're road tripping to tomorrow!
