What players get invited to this event?
Need some info here as my son got an invite and we have no idea who suggested him to that showcase...

My son got an invite, but we decided not to go because he will be way out of practice in December. It's basketball season, and he spent the fall playing football.
I'm wondering when and how I'll get him to a showcase. During the season it is pretty tough to leave his team to travel to a showcase, and off season he's playing other sports.
Anybody else have this problem? I'd be interested to hear how you handled it.

Rob, Perfect Game has several showcases every summer in California, and Arizona. These are generally in June and July. Of course, if he is fortunate enough to garner an invite to an Area Code tryout, that is an excellent chance to work out in front of MLB scouts and some college coaches.
I was also invited, but we're thinkin flights are way too expensive on the holidays, but we'll see. How many people are invited and accepted.

I dont have advice for you on when or how you can get to one, but I think it is very wise to not attend if the player isnt in top notch form.
About 4 years ago - I sent my eldest to one in Florida - during the winter.
He did OK - but certainly wasnt in top notch form.
Big mistake - which I never did again.

Question, i recieved an invite today, do invites go out to specific players, or to anyone who has played in a WWBA event or requested an invite?
Lots of invites are mailed. They have to do so in order to get a decent number of players who accept the invite, so that the event will be worthwhile.
My son was invited and not going for the same reason as Rob's son. Not in baseball shape or frame of mind (my son, that is).
Mine is declining not because of not being in baseball shape, but because I think he needs to rest his arm for a couple of months here.

The young Krakster got his invite a couple weeks ago but we can't afford the Seoul-Ft. Lauderdale airfare. Maybe in the middle of his junior year we'll try to spring for it.
Thanks for all the replies folks! My son will not be going either...Kinda young still and recovering from a back injury this summer...Was proud of how he played hurt but he took some time off (Did not play QB for football team this Fall) and probably would be a bit rusty anyways...
My son's going to the event. He just finished his fall league this past weekend, hits 2-3 times a week at an indoor facility and has one on one defense instruction once a week. Hopefully that will keep the rust off.
Son got invite but won't be attending as he is not in top form having missed most of the fall season from injury not to mention lack of resources as trip would run about $1500 for him alone.
My son is going to the underclass showcase in Florida but after reading some of theses posts I don't know if it is a good idea. He is finishing up his football season tomorrow and then will train indoors for the next month as we are from Northeast. He is only a sophmore so we wanted to get his feet wet early. He is a three sport athlete who does'nt get much time off. Are we making a mistake by going now?
