Hey all, I'm new to this site but I've  been reading for months now and love the various topics. I live in Northern California and play in the WCAL, where we have a pretty good reputation as a difficult league, and also for a good summer team that faces good competition(pitchers throw from 75-90 depending on team). Anyway, I've heard about how Perfect Game has a good reputation as a recruiting network, and am interested about the WWBA. Next year I would qualify as a 2017/16u. I am wondering how I would be able to participate in this if my summer team doesn't play Perfect Game tournaments. Also if there are any other recruiting events that I should be interested in please let me know. Thanks!

Clipper,

What are your baseball goals? Play in college? In Northern CA? Get drafted out of high school?

Have you started developing a plan to reach your goals? If not, that's where I suggest you start. The WWBA might be the best baseball recruiting event in the country, but that doesn't mean that everyone who plays there will get recruited.

If the WWBA does fit your plan, then you have a few options with finding a team. You could try to find a NorCal team who is planning to attend next year, or PG could connect you with a team who needs a player at your position. (Pitchers are always needed.)  Perfect Game publishes a staff directory under the "Company" tab on their web site. You could start by trying to contact the Tournament Director or an Assistant for help with both of those approaches.

Hopefully, other folks will be able to help you with events that make sense for you. More information like GPA, position, size, speed, velo... would help people direct you to the best events for you.

Good luck in your journey!

That's a great point MidAtlanticDad.  You often see players who have suited up for a wide variety of teams from various different states (other than their own home state).  I've often wondered how a kid from say NJ, hooks up with a Florida team for one tourney with no logical geographic connection?  Obviously, if you are a lights-out pitcher throwing 88-90 teams will find you.  But how about if you are just an above average arm (say 15-17yo throwing 82-86mph) who has a WWBA week free but no team to pitch for?  What is the best way to get the word out that you are "available" and looking to play for any team who needs an extra arm?

Contact PG personnel, or is there another way?  Just curious.  Thanks.
