Does anybody have any information on La Salle, Temple, St. Joes, Penn, or Villanova?
Agree with the other viewpoints:
Villanova...GREAT school academically, beautiful campus, ritzy area OUTSIDE of Philly on the Main Line. NOT a city school by any stretch of the imagination (or address!). It is located in Villanova, PA a beautiful suburb of Philly. Baseball stadium is very nice altho a bit far from campus. You can not beat the education...but it is EXPENSIVE.
LaSalle...in the city, in a not so great section. Campus itself is very nice (surprisingly GREEN for smack dab in the city)...but NOT if you leave campus! You need your city smarts to attend a school like LaSalle. ATlantic 10 conference. Been on campus many times, can honestly tell you I have NO IDEA where the baseball field is.
Temple. I believe they got a new coach last year who has pretty much turned the roster over this past year. Will be interesting to see how the team performs this season. I know a friend of my son's just transferred to Temple from a JUCO in NY. I see you are from State College...PSU added Temple to the schedule this year and they play up at Lubrano in State College....might be worth look for you when they come to town. Temple is definetly a CITY school...lots of concrete...not so nice surrounding neighborhoods. Interestingly, Temple's field is in AMBLER, PA....not very convenient to campus. Ambler is a suburb of Philly....a nice area..but NOT close to campus.
St. Joe's....traditionally a pretty good baseball program in the Atlantic 10. Altho a city school...in a pretty good section of Philly....City Line Avenue section. Their field is in Norristown, PA tho....which is a decent hike from campus. Altho, the field DOES have lights and I believe it is the only Philly school to play night games.
As TRhit said, Penn is an Ivy League school. Another definetly CITY school. I believe their coach has just been at Penn for two years. The baseball field if not located ON campus...is pretty darn close for a city school. Being an Ivy...you can not beat the education and prestige of a Penn education.
