How many times can Vance Worley come up?

In 3 years from first being called up he can go back and forth as much as they like. However, he just was sent back down, and I don't think they can call back up within a 10 day period, unless they ask for a special exception.
I had the good fortune to attend last nights Phillies/Red Sox game and see Vance pitch. Obviously from his line score he was very impressive (7 innings, 5 hits, 1 run). At one point during the game I saw that over 70% of his pitches were for strikes. His command was outstanding and he kept the hitters off balance all night.

On the "jumbo-tron" they showed a group of fans holding up a sign saying "we traveled all the way from Los Angleles in 48 hours to watch Vance pitch". Wondering if DB2BMom was at the game? I hope so, she would have seen a great performance!

I saw a graphic on the news that showed every state except Washington has temperatures in the 90s. If you're outside today please be careful.

Game 97: Don't evaporate, Vance

CHICAGO -- So it's hot. Really hot. On my walk to the L, a bank sign read 95 degrees. And it was 10:24 a.m. The heat index is supposed to feel somewhere around 115 degrees during the height of the afternoon, and it just so happens Vance Worley will be on the mound then.

Worley deals in self-depricating humor and I joked with him Tuesday that he'd at least be able to lose a few pounds during his outing. "But I'll just put it all back on," he said. "Bad genes."

*** Then he laughed.***
Well, Vance did get hot. Really hot. In fact, according to the headline, he sizzled:

Another great start and win, and Vance is now 6-1.

"Vance Worley, who has yielded no more than one earned run in his last six starts, carried a no-hitter into the fifth and allowed one run on four hits over eight dominant innings."

Best of all, his mom was at the game! Congrats, DB2BMom!

I heard on ESPN last night that a lot of success for young pitchers comes from being able to work with a great pitching staff that can help you to understand, the "head stuff" (which at this level is much what it is about).

For all of you young pitchers out there, he relies mostly on his FB, which isn't necessarily over powering but has pin point accuracy!

There's not much that impresses me in baseball lately, but Worley has for sure!

As a Phils fan living in Seattle, I finally got to see Worley pitch thanks to MLB network, last night. Wow. Just wow. And all this success while riding the shuttle between Philly and Lehigh Valley. I know the Phillies are looking for help for the stretch run and playoffs, but I get nervous when Vance gets dangled as trade bait. Keep Vance.
Vance just keeps on rolling along. After a rain-delay-shortened start last week (in which he pitched 3 scoreless innings), Vance earned his 9th win tonight.

I find it absolutely amazing that this is one of "our boys" they are talking about... only 23 years old, and son of DB2BMom.

"Vance Worley responded to the support, retiring 15 in a row at one point and holding the visitors to one run."

"The Phillies have won each of Worley's last 12 starts, which is their longest streak since they won 15 consecutive starts by Steve Carlton in 1972. It also is the longest streak for any rookie pitcher since the Texas Rangers won 12-straight Bobby Witt starts in 1986."

Great job again, Vance!

Win number 10 tonight, wow!

Scorching Hot Phillies Have Vance Fever
Vance Worley fanned seven batters in six innings and drove in a run for the Phillies...

Phillies sweep Reds to reach best-ever mark
Worley helps club move to 41 games over .500 for third time in history

The Phillies have won each of Worley's last 12 starts. That's the best streak for a Phillies pitcher since the Phillies won 15 consecutive Steve Carlton starts in 1972.

My goodness, history in the making! Way to go, Vance!!! Congrats, DB2BMom!!!

P.S.
Click on the video if you like to watch "filthy" pitches. SIX strikeouts looking, plus another swinging.

Love looking at the faces of the batters after they were called out looking.

This is awesome!

Five or six weeks ago (I forget which game it was), a guy on the radio mentioned that Vance Worley threw over 100 pitches and the opposing hitters had zero swings and misses. That was an odd stat.
