Runners on 2nd and 1st. Pick off runner at first idea to get the lead runner. On a succesful pick does your pitcher go to third? Or does the catcher go to 3rd and pitcher go home? Thanks in advance.

13u travel ball we are seeing when a runner is behind another runner they are getting big leads. So we have been putting in timing pick offs to 1st, 2nd , 3rd. In example runner at 2nd and 1st. First plays off base and we pick from pitcher to first, run the runner to 2nd until the runner who was on second is off far enough to throw behind. Then we run at him and towards 3rd. Want to get the lead runner out of course. Question is after pitcher picks to first and we have that runner caught high level baseball does he then go to third? Or what we have been doing is after the pick the pitcher goes home and my catcher goes to third anticipating the pickle. Thanks in advance for your time.

Pitcher follows the ball. So, he picks to 1B and goes to 1B. If you run the R1 to 2B and force the R2 to make a decision, typically the Ss will cover 2B. After he runs R2 toward 3B, he fills in behind 3B.
