Always thought Watts and Bahill were off base on the effect of seam orientation. They do good work on the visual effects though. I think the last thing I read out of Ames was about endothermic cooling of hypersonic engines. This is a bit more interesting.
CADad - Pretty funny.
I was showing this paper to some folks at work today and they were cracking up that we even did the work. But you're right, much more interesting than most of the stuff we produce...to me at least!

ok plain and simple,, the reading out of hand is what scouts go by, a good scout can tell movement and type of pitch, and keeps tracks of the velocity from inning to inning and what type of pitches are being thrown,,,, I doubt any team out there really cares what the velo is at the plate,,, questions asked,,,, how much movement,,, what pitch was thrown,,, what was the velocity at the time,,,, what was the result of the pitch?? AND MOST IMPORTANT,,,can he get guys out with his stuff,,,, nuf said
They do show both readings on some of the mlb scouting bureau videos.
