Pitcher that pitches twice in same game?

We tried this discussion on the Umpire Forum because I hadnt noticed there was a scorekeeper's forum...okay, if a pitcher comes in once then goes and plays in the field being relieved by the next pitcher, then returns to the mound is that one appearance or two?

I’d say it’s two appearances. I’m not exactly sure, but it seems to me once you’re out of the game that concludes your appearance, so if you came back in later it wouldn’t that count for another appearance? Also wouldn’t the first appearance go as a game started and then coming back in as a game relived in? I mean theoretically you could get a win and a save in that scenario, so wouldn’t you have to make it two appearances?
