Please post any examples of real-life between-pitch routines/habits that you have seen (own college kid, other college kid, pro). We all know about Costner's "clear the mechanism", but what are some things REAL pitchers do? What are pitcher equivalents of Ichiro's raise-bat-tug-uniform? Things that keep them LOCKED IN.

I remember reading somewhere, if I remember correctly crazy, Randy Johnson (I think), looks at his shoelaces ? before his mental routine begins at each pitch. I know it is some MLB pitcher but not sure if it is him or not.
My son's mental approach begins each game by doing a ritualist thing I am not going to disclose, but that triggers his brain that it's time for gametime, has been doing it since HS. It's a trigger to relax and focus. Then comes the stare, position of the glove, then comes the deep breathe in and out before his windup.
