I'm a freshman at sandburg right now and I'm really lookin forward to pitching for them. I throw mid 70's with an above average curve n slider n my change ups ok. I'm workin on it but I was wondering if pitching lessons would be a good idea before the tryouts come around. If so then can anyone recommend any people..preferably not too expensive cuz I'll prolly be payin this with my bday n christmas money. Thanks.

TP, with an attitude like that, and a willingness to fork over your own BDay and XMas $$$$ for lessons, Sandburg will be LUCKY to have you. Plus, mid-70's should WELL-qualify you for a freshmen team, even at a school as baseball-solid as Sandburg. I wish you were up north, with your approach and willingness to work, I'd give you some free lessons in exchange for doing some work around my facility. Best of luck to you, and it sounds like Sandburg is getting a good kid!
One way to be economical is to go to a coach that you respect.....take some lessons and have him tell you what you need to do mechanically to improve. Maybe 3-4 lessons.(Whatever you can afford) Then continue to work out and every few weeks go back to make sure you are where you need to be. Being able to self-analyze and adjusting are key parts to your developement as a pitcher.
TP...Call Bob Gillund at the Ball Park in Mokena.

Explain your situation to him and he might give you a break on lessons.

He was at Andrew as their pitching coach for a long time. Think he's at TP now, but knows the old SICA West teams and coaches very well.

Can't go wrong. Tell him John Petrulis told you to call him and he might give you a free pop. (lol)
