I would love some insight into two used pitching machines I am looking at purchasing.
The one is a first generation Atec Casey which is in excellent condition despite being 15 years old. The other is also in great shape but only 7 years old and is the Jugs Curve ball machine. Any thoughts on pros and cons and anything to look for when viewing them would be much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Martyn

The Casey will throw consistent strikes if the pads are still in decent shape.  The Jugs will do the same.  The Jugs will also throw breaking pitches which the Casey will not.  The Casey is more versatile if you also wish to throw infield and outfield balls with ease.  The Jugs is a pain in the ... to move and set up due to the weight.

Thanks for the input. It will be almost exclusively for batting so I am not too concerned about that particular issue. I probably didn't state it clearly but the Atec machine is the two wheeled original version ( first generation) of the Casey pro 3G. It has the control panel lower down, just above the tripod. I am told it is maybe a little more accurate than the jugs but a little slower. 80mph compared to the 100 plus the Jugs is apparently capable of. I am again not too concerned as long as it is reasonably accurate as this to me is more realistic. My main concern I guess is reliability and cost of replacing parts if there is an issue. Any other input would be great.
Many thanks

I have owned the Jugs, the Casey you are thinking about, the hummer and the Rookie.  I too was a little confused.  With the Casey you are talking about, it was easier to set up and move.  The Jugs is a bear to work with.  However, the age and wear factor are a concern.  On my Casey, the edges of the wheels wore down and chipped while moving.  I think that is why they offer the option of wheels.  I was able to order new wheels without a problem and they were not too expensive.  I used all of these machines in my HS baseball program.
