HOUSTON – Plano East won the boys team event Sunday at the Texas State High School Bowling Championships at Copperfield Bowl.

Plano East went the whole tournament without losing a game until the finals against Garland Lakeview, which won the first game, 189-164.

"Maybe losing that first game was the best thing for us," said Plano East coach Hieu Du. "After we lost that first game, the kids came back more motivated to get the job done, and they did."

Plano East won the second game, 160-144, then dominated the third, 204-156, to win the title.

Garland Lakeview made it to the finals by upsetting No. 1 seed Plano.

Pasadena's Carmen Solis won the girls individual title. McKinney's Houston Granger made it to the quarterfinals before Solis beat her, 192-187.

Elizabeth Eldredge of Plano West and Courtney Swindle of Allen also made it to the quarterfinals.

Watch out you might be reaching the "gutter" on that one.

Hey, where's my steak dinner? Smile And guess who I am rooting for in the FMHS vs LHS game? Should we bet again.

Nope, no more bets, no more predictions. I'm like 0-14 picking games this year.

My other son is on the mound tonight for LHS. Spent the weekend working on his Jeep, hope it helps him pitch a great game tonight that way I can take some credit. Big Grin
