The weather was perfect! 72 degrees and a beautiful blue sky made for a perfect baseball day. The team looked a little rusty and the bats weren't great, but they worked hard. The first game was tough. We gave up 8 runs and then the boys pulled it together to tie the game. They ended up losing the first game 13 to 9. The second game was better with the boys settled down and playing defense. The bats were working and we won the game, 5-4.
My son did a good job at catcher, but struggled batting. His coaches have a list of things for him to work on, especially at the plate. The good news is the other team's coach gave him a huge compliment on his job blocking balls. He said he wished his catcher would work like that. He caught both games(5 innings each) and threw a runner out going to second. His coaches said he had some good throws but his teammates needed to help him out. He did get an inside the park home run off of a bad cut-off throw and scored from first off a single. As a catcher he usually has a courtesy runner, but his coach let him run the bases in these games. He loved that.
Sorry this got a little long. Mom bragging on son. Ya'll understand
