I believe you can move up in divisions with out sit out requirements, but this does not make much sense if the release was for playing ability reasons. Probably need more information.
Depends on what "dismissed" means. If it means the player is suspended or expelled from the first college, he is ineligible at any NCAA or NAIA school until he has completed a year in residency at the new school. He is more likely to be able to play immediately at a JC, but that isn't assured.
If he is in good standing (academically and behaviorly) at his first school, but just not welcome on the baseball team (conflict with coaches or not perceived to be sufficiently skilled) then he is eligible to play immediately everywhere except D1, and if he was not recruited to the first school, he is eligible at a D1.
Thanks all.. trying to help someone out who made some bad decisions. completed the academic year, but was removed from the team for failing some non-academic surprise tests !!! He's a good kid just looking for options if He continues to play ball I'm not judgeing Him just trying to help..
